Frank's POV***

I woke up, shaking. It was completely black in the basement. I couldn't stand not seeing anything, I felt blind. I sighed and started to sit up slowly. My head was feeling better, but I still couldn't breath properly. I reached up to feel the cut on my head. The bleeding had stopped but it still hurt to the touch. Just my luck, it was probably going to get infected.

I heard a low growl come from the darkness as I started to stand up, and in pure fear my knees buckled under me and I landed on the floor. I remembered the dog, Berwald. I laid my head back against the wall behind me and closed my eyes. I couldn't go back to sleep, and its not like I had much sleep anyway.

I jumped as the lights flicked on and watched as my captor started to come down the stairs. Berwald was laying at the bottom of the stairs. His ears perked up as his owner came down. The man looked at me cowering in the corner and smirked. His nose had one of those breath right strips, used as a make shift splint to help his broken nose.

" Sleep well? " he chuckled and walked over slowly, stopping in front of me.  " You look a little tired. " he grabbed my arm and pulled me up. He took my throat with his free hand, and started to squeeze. I coughed, trying to get air. My hands flew up to my neck, trying to pull his hand off of me. My vision started to tunnel and go dark.

The man laughed and dropped me to the ground.

" So fucking pathetic. Like your little faggoty ass boyfriend. " he kicked me in my side hard and I cried out, trying to crawl away. He went to go kick me again, but a sudden knock on the front door upstairs stopped him. He sighed angerly, and glared at me.

" one noise and you're dead. " he said, tapping his waist. I figured he had a gun. I nodded, my eyes filling with tears. He started to walk up the stairs and I crawled to the corner of the room again.

' think happy thoughts... I can get through this...'

I thought to myself..

Detective Galligar's POV**

After roaming around the mall for a while and asking a few more people if they had seen Frank, or heard anything, and getting mostly negative answers, I decided to pay this Alfred character a visit.

I pulled up to the first house on Anders St. , and got out of my car.

There was a crappy red car parked in the driveway, with a small dent on the trunk. Nothing very noticeable, but when you know what you're looking for, it stood out like sore thumb.

Wonder where it came from.

I waltzed up to the door, and knocked on it confidently. After a few moments of silence, I knocked on it again, a little more forcefully.  A guy finally answered. The first thing that caught my eye was his nose, which had a breath-right string thingy on it. It was also very red, a symptom of a broken nose.

Well.

" I'm Detective Galligar, " I pulled out my badge and showed it to him, " I would like to ask you a few questions, if you had the time. "

Alfred nodded, a bit hesitant. " Yeah, um, sure. Come right in. " he stepped back to let me in. I thanked him and walked in, and went into the kitchen.

" Alfred, is it? " I asked, sitting down at the small table. It was obvious he lived alone, with all the pile up of dishes in the sink and overpilled wrappers in the trash can.

" Yeah.. how do you know my name?" He asked nervously, sitting down across from me.

" I went down to the store you work at.. what's it called? I don't remember, but that doesn't matter. Yesterday a client of mine, lost a friend. In the store you were working in. Know anything about it? " I leaned back in the chair and crossed my arms.

" No, I don't actually. There weren't a lot of people there yesterday. " he explained, crossing his arms also. " I was sorting things in the back, I wasn't in the store much at all. "

I nodded, looking over his stature slowly, hoping his body language would give him away.

" what happened to your nose?"

" I um, fell. Down the stairs. After I got home from work. Im a little clumsy. " he looked down at the table so I wouldn't meet his eyes.

" just a little, huh? " I smirked slighlty. what a shame you couldn't arrest someone for being suspicious. Calling off sick for a broken nose? Seems a bit unreasonable. Didn't the girl at the store say he was having stomach troubles? Even more suspicious.

" Well, I must be going. I have places to be. " I pulled a card with my number on it out of my pocket and set it on the table lightly, watching him still.

" Call me if you.. oh, remember something. "

He nodded and looked at me, slight nervousness in his gaze.

" Yeah, of course. It's a shame that he's missing. " he got up and led me to the door and opened it, waiting for me to leave. " Bye, Detective Galligar. "

I stared at him once more before walking out the door. He watched me walk to my car, his gaze burning into my back. I got in and waved, before speeding off to the police station.

Time for a search warrant.
