It didn't take Liza long to reach her father's body. She barely glanced over at the prisoner before she entered her father's mind. Within seconds, she was standing in the area that her father kept for himself, in the prisoner's mind.
"Liza! What's going on? Why do you look so rushed?"
"Dad! We have a plan! You have to do what I tell you, and you have to do it fast."
"Okay, what is it?"
"Dad, you have to release the criminal mentally, and wake up."
"What?"
"Just listen, Dad, please. When you wake up, you need to make sure the criminal dies."
"You want me to kill a man? Does the General know about this?"
"Dad, please. It's the only way."
"Honey, I want to work with you, but you need to give me more details."
"There's no time! Dad, you have to do as I say. We only have minutes before we can't do this. Once he's loose, we'll hold him until the other person arrives."
"What other person?"
"The one that's going to solve everything. He or she will be able to fix this."
"He or she? You don't know who it is?"
"Not yet. Quinn's helping me. Can you do it, Dad? Please?"
"After so long." Mr. Aberdeen looked at his daughter. To be back with his family after so very long. "Okay."
"I'll meet you on the other side. Dad, I love you." Liza smiled and shot out of the criminal's head and then out of her father's and stood, waiting. Before long, the machines went wild. Liza's father's eyes opened and he took in a deep breath. At the same time, the criminal began to stir. He didn't quite have his eyes opened yet. Her father sat up and turned to the criminal. His body was so emaciated. The only keeping him alive were the machines attached to him. Liza waited as her father walked to the plug that fed the machines energy. He paused a moment and just as he began to bend down to pull the plug, men in white coats burst into the room, yelling.
"Wait!" Liza's father held up his hands, cautioning the men to stop. "This man has to die. There is a plan in motion here, and it has a short time limit. You have to allow him to die in order for this plan to work."
"Sir, are you certain?"
"Yes, my daughter is trying to make this work. We have to help her. She can't do this part. Order the plug to be pulled. Please."
The men looked uncertain.
"Does the General know about this?"
He shook his head.
"Not yet. There's not enough time. I trust my daughter. Please, we have to hurry."
One short man in a white coat stepped forward over to the plug.
"Well, I for one, won't miss him." He leaned over and yanked the plug out of the wall. It took merely seconds for the machines to stop helping the pitiful man in the bed function.
"What now?" he asked.
"Now I need to go back. I have to catch him as he comes out," her father replied.
He laid back on the bed and closed his eyes. Liza was happy to see him moving about, but also scared of when the criminal would come out. She tried to stay focused. Her father's spirit rose from his body and joined her at the foot of the criminal's bed. Just as the criminal took his last breath, Liza felt a tug at her spirit. Confused, she looked at her father.
"Liza?"
Suddenly, she was being pulled by her tether, with incredible speed, back to her body.
