"I still don't see why you can't simply shoot them and be done with it," I mutter. Wow, way to sound like some sort of mobster asking if they can just kill someone.
We were supposed to be walking to our next class but decided to meet up in the hallway and talk in hushed whispers to each other. At least before the bell rang. We snuck a corner by the lockers where most students would pass by us quickly, without even realizing we were there. Even if they did, they'd simply see Jungkook's back, where his frame completely hid my own, and they'd carry along, not knowing that a cupid and an accomplice were discussing their plans to set up one of the most infamous crazy and eye candy.
"Because," Jungkook grinned, swinging an arm around my shoulders. "Love doesn't work like that. The arrows only work if the two already have feelings for each other, and in order to make sure they've got the feelings for each other, we need to get them together, at least together enough in certain scenarios where they'd get that little idea that perhaps this person could be their soulmate."
"So we're just going to... make them run into each other often? But I run into people, and I've never had feelings," I quirk a brow.
"That's because they weren't your soulmate. Besides that, it has to be certain situations or scenarios. I mean, you'd be more likely to fall in love with someone who you met or took notice of on a certain day, one significant in some aspect at the time, then you would if you two were to just pass by in the hallway or simply say hi to each other while waiting to take a sip of water? Most couples end up having some cute or special story for how they met, and most of the time it isn't just chance. But usually, that isn't such a problem. I mean, for most crushes anyone's even had in their lifetime, they had some sort of attraction to the person as they first lay eyes on them. Perhaps just thinking oh they're cute or oh, not bad. There's always a glimmer or a speck at least, so just imagine how it is for soulmates in comparison to crushes."
"But... I just don't see how Crazy Cathy's set up with him," I said, bewildered. "I mean, you know she brought a live fish to class, right? Like, it was show and tell, and she didn't have it in a bowl or anything, she just whipped out a live fish from her backpack- and it was wriggling and everything! Landed on Bonnie's desk before Cathy had to catch it. Meanwhile, Taehyung is coveted by tons of girls, and he seems more into the party girls. I fail to see how she and he will be a perfect match."
"Maybe the reason all of his past relationships failed with 'party girls' is because he wasn't searching for the right type," Jungkook shrugged.
My mouth tilted a bit to the side. "You're forgetting something. Taehyung's already in a relationship."
"I told you they'd get harder as we go along," Jungkook shrugged. "But, you're here to help, right?"
"I don't have any experience breaking up couples," I admit, scrunching my nose. "So I fail to see where my skills will be applied."
"Have you ever spoken to Taehyung or Cathy?"
"Sure, we've spoken and talked a few times. At least I did with Taehyung before his girlfriend shooed me away last time." I still remembered it. Precisely one month ago, I had told Taehyung that he had a piece of candy stuck between his teeth. His girlfriend- who was well known for her jealousy- quickly batted me away, her death glare told me she suspected I could quite possibly be interested in her boyfriend. I haven't spoken to the boy ever since.
"Well, believe me, I think we can break them up." Jungkook nods determinedly.
"What? Is she on your list to be matched?" I sigh. "She's the only one who's even had a relationship with Taehyung that lasted more than two weeks."
