Chapter 1 - Do I Wanna Know?

Blasting music in my ears is the only way it seems I can get through this day, anything and everything has gone wrong today. I approached my locker, my best friend Amelia was standing there, but not looking at me. She was looking off into the distance, her eyes flickering back and forth.

"What?" I asked, calmly with a perplexed look on my face. I started to unlock my locker.

"I think that's the new kid." She said still eyeing him. I turned to look at him.

"Oh ya, he's in our biology class." I said, turning back.

"I heard he got kicked out of his old school." She said, finally turning away from him.

"From who?" I asked, stopping to look at her.

"Just, around." She said, nodding her head.

I rolled my eyes. I swung my backpack over my shoulder and shut my locker door, I turned to look at the kid, and he looked at me for a quick second and looked away, smiling to himself.

"I saw that." Amelia said, smiling at me. I turned to her.

"Who cares, It was nothing." I shook my head.

"Someones grumpy." She said following me.

"Sorry I just had a really shitty day." I said, all of the sudden I bumped into Chase Evans.

"Oh hey Madyson." He said, looking me up and down, I rolled my eyes. It took every part of me not to punch him in the face.

"So are you coming to my party this weekend?" He asked.

"No." I answered sternly.

"Aw come on babe, it's gonna be fun." He said, putting his hand on my waist. I immediately swiped his hand off of me.

"She'll think about it." Amelia said, grabbing my wrist and pulling me away. He nodded and walked away, winking at Amelia. She let out a squeal.

"You've got to be kidding me." I started towards the front doors of the school.

"What?" Amelia followed closely behind.

"What do you mean I'll think about it? I'm not going." I said while pushing the doors open.

"Oh come on, it'll be fun. You haven't been to a party in like a year."

"I know." I said, trudging my converse up the sidewalk.

"Please." She pleaded. 

"Fine fine fine." I gave in.

"Yes!" She cheered and I laughed. Just then we heard a crowd screaming behind us. We both turned around to see a bunch of kids in a circle just outside of the school.

"What's going on?" Amelia asked.

"Who cares?" I questioned.

"I think it's a fight." Amelia snickered, ignoring me. I shrugged.

"Let's go see!" Before I could say anything she was already heading back to the school. I followed slowly behind. The cheers got louder.

"Knock him out!" I heard a voice. I pushed my way to the front of the circle and saw the kid with the black hair in the circle, eyes locked with of course, Chase. Chase lunged at him, knocking him straight in the lip.

"Chase stop it!" I threw myself in the middle of the circle. The boy was stunned.

"Madyson get out." Chase warned.

"No." I grounded myself infront of the boy.

"I hear how tough this kid is, he needs to prove it." He argued.

"Are you kidding me, Chase?" I mocked. He stared at me for a moment, and rolled his eyes.

"Whatever." He pushed out of the circle and walked away. I turned to the boy.

"Thank you." He mouthed the words. I licked my lips, blushing at how attractive he was. He picked up his backpack, and swung it over his shoulder. I watched him leave, stunned. I finally flashed back into reality and noticed the crowd had faded until just Amelia was left standing there.

"What the hell was that?" She snarled.

"I don't know."
