"Hurry up!" Amelia called from my front steps. I looked out the window to see her standing there, waiting for me.
"I'm coming." I sighed. I honestly didn't want to go to this party, I just had a bad feeling about it. I went downstairs and put on my converse.
"Where are you going?" My mom called, leaning her elbows on the kitchen counter. I turned to her.
"A party, apparently." I said, brushing my hair behind my ear.
"Apparently?" She questioned.
"Yeah, I don't really wanna go."
"Why are you going then?" She said, taking a bite of a banana.
"I promised Amelia." I said, beginning to open the door.
"Okay, well if you need anything honey just call, try and have fun." She said.
"I love you." I smiled at her.
"Love you too sweetie." She waved. As soon as I shut the door behind me my smile faded. I just had such a bad feeling about this, I didn't know why.
"Finally." She said, leaning against her car. She was smoking a cigarette. she turned around and got into her car.
"You shouldn't be smoking." I said, shutting the car door. She glared at me.
"Why?" She hissed.
"You know why." I said, turning away.
"It's not your problem is it?" She said, starting the car.
"It is, what's your deal?" I asked. She didn't answer, we drove in silence for a few minutes.
"I'm just sick of people telling me what to do." She said, flicking the cigarette out the window.
"Well you clearly you need to be told what to do." I said under my breath. She slammed on the breaks.
"Get out." She shot at me.
"What?" I said, sitting up.
"Get the fuck out my car, I don't need this right now." She said, staring at me. I stared at her for a few seconds and then opened the door. I stood outside and she sped away. I was about a 20 minute walk from home and 3 minutes away from the party, might as well go to the party. I began walking up the sidewalk when a small black car pulled up beside me. The windows were tinted black so I couldn't see who it was. The window rolled down slowly, it was Michael.
"Hi." He laughed.
"Hey." I shielded my eyes from the sun.
"Where are you headed?" He asked.
"I was going to Chase's party but my friend just kicked me out of her car." I said, a little embarassed. He had a confused look on his face.
"I was just on my way there." He said, squinting his eyes from the sun.
"Get in." He continued. I know you weren't supposed to get in the car with strangers, but I honestly didn't even care right now what might happen, I got in the car. He grabbed out a cigarette. He put it in his mouth.
"Oh shit, do you mind?" He asked, taking it out.
"Not at all, mind if I?" I said, referring to the pack. He nodded with a stunned look on his face. I'd smoked a couple times before, so it wasn't a totally new thing. I lit it up quickly, handing him the lighter.
"I uh- I didn't know you smoked?" He said, lighting up his cigarette, he began to drive down the road.
"Just when I'm really stressed." I said, taking a drag.
"I didn't know you partied either." He laughed.
"I don't usually, my friend kind of dragged me. It's not really my thing." I said putting my feet up on the chair holding my knees, tapping the ashes off my cigarette out the window.
"Me neither." He said, tapping the steering wheel. I looked over to him, furrowing my brow.
"Right." I laughed.
"Actually." He said, smiling. We pulled into Chase's driveway, Katy Perry was playing loudly. We got out of the car and we entered the house.
"Michael!" A kid called, he walked up and put his hand around his shoulder.
"Who's this babe?" He said referring to me. I looked down. He turned the kid away from me.
"Bye Madyson, try and have fun!" He said, walking away.
