Chapter One: The Task

Darkocean snuck out the back door,her father wouldn't notice, "Now I can spend the night with Nightbreak!" She whispered excitedly.

Darkocean spread her unusual, dark blue wings. Then she lifted herself into the air and took off. She dodged trees,vines and other animals in her forest.

She soon reached the castle,Nightbreak was one of the queen's workers,he did different things, he cooked,fought as a soldier, and presented her with treasure.

She turned herself invisible in the shadows. She crept past the sleeping guards. When she past them she looked around the castle, "Wow..I've been here a milloin times,but its still so amazing.... I wish i could live here like Nightbreak." She thought to herself.

Darkocean her footsteps, "Who's there?!" Asked a calm smart voice. Darkocean smiled,"Nightbreak!" She whispered,trying not to wake the guards.

A male Midnightwing walked out of the shadows, his scales were pitch black with some star colored scales around his eyes,horns,talons,and on his back. Nightbreak smiled, "Darkocean!" He whispered happily.

They ran to each other and hugged,"I haven't seen you in forever!"Nightbreak almost yelled,backing away from Darkocean.

Darkocean nodded,"Wanna go to the beach?" She asked,Nightbreak nodded.

They spread their wings,Darkocean's had a unusual blue glow to her wings,while Nightbreak had a star colored glow.

Nightbreak lifted into the air,but as Darkocean flew three feet into the air, a dragon grabbed her foot,"Hey! Let go of me!" She hissed,  Darkocean turned her head around. A light gray dragon with pitch black spotted scales, was holding her foot,keeping her from flying.

"Where do you think your going?" He asked hoarsely. Darkocean recognized that dragon, it was Nightbreak's father,Gloomshade.

He was one of the Queens right talon dragon. Nightbreak sighed,"Father! We haven't played with each other in a long time!"he complained, Gloomshade ignored him.

He stared at Darkocean, with some sort of suspicion in his eyes, "Why do you keep looking at me?!" Darkocean hissed in her mind.

Gloomshade smiled at Darkocean, "I need to speak with you. Only you,Darkocean." He said calmly.

Darkocean blinked at Nightbreak, "Uh..oh..." She felt a lump in her throat.

Gloomshade let go of Darkocean's foot then walked off,Nightbreak looked at Darkocean, is expression said,"Its my fault.. "

Darkocean shook her head.

She followed Gloomshade, her head down, "Darkocean.." Gloomshade said with a voice that had no emotion.

"Y-yes?" She asked, knowing she was in trouble.

"Have you ever thought of something, like thought something like, Go to sleep. "He asked," and it actually happened? Like...you controlled for a second?'

Darkocean nodded,he had done that exactly," Yes...my father was getting annoying and I thought, Go to sleep and shutup!"she blinked,"And he actually.. Went to bed and didnt talk for and hour after he woke up.."

Gloomshade nodded,"Have you ever heard,Queen Eclipse, has the power where she could control minds?" He asked,

Darkocean nodded,"Who wouldn't?" She asked sarcastically. Gloomshade sighed,"Her daughter had that same power. "

Darkocean blinked,"How do you kno-?"

"I know because, when a dragon is born with the power to control minds, they will always pass it down when they have a dragonet." He explained, leading her into a marble room.

Inside the room, was a throne with an empty hole that looks like it could have fit any type of emerald. Gloomshade continued to stare into Darkocean's eyes. His eyes were a very dull gray color.

"You see this hole here?" He asked,"It fits an emerald, someone..STOLE that emerald! Do you know what that emerald does?" He asked,

Darkocean shook her head in fear of Gloomshade, "That is the Emerald Of Truth. Now you should know what is does!" He yelled.

Darkocean nodded,Gloomshade seemed as though she knew what had happened, she didnt, "Darkocean.. I need you to find that Emerald Of Truth." Gloomshade said, a bit more calmly.

Darkocean nodded,shivering with fear,she stood,"W-where do you think I might find it?" She asked,

"Lightingwing Kingdom." He answered.

Darkocean flew back to Nightbreak, and told him what had happened. He sighed,

"My father is so worried that Twilight would take his place,that's why he probably wanted you to find the Emerald.

Darkocean nodded," I should get home.. " she said quietly, Nightbreak nodded as well.

Then Darkocean spread her wings and went home,thinking of the journey she had ahead of her.
