Zeta's POV

I was awake before my eyes were open. I was just laying down in my bed; relaxing. Things seem to be looking up for me. I finally feel like a normal girl. I've got great friends, and amazing boyfriend, and my grades are starting to get better.

Today, Jax and I are going on our first date. He and I have agreed to take our relationship slow, but not too slow... We're going to go have a moonlit picnic by the lake. But in the meantime, I've got to get my chores done, and go and find a job.

Jax's POV

"Yes, sir... I understand.... goodbye." I sighed.
"What's wrong?" asked my little sister.
"I got fired."
She gasped, "Why!?"
"Someone took hundred bucks from the cash register and everyone blamed me."
"But you're not a taker-man!" She says "Why do you always talk to people who make you sad?"
"I don't know. But I do know that I need a job."
"You can be my babysitter!" She offered, excitedly.
"I already am your babysitter, silly!"
I chase her around the house before capturing her in a hug and tickling her.
"I'm done." she pleaded.

I sit down next to her and turn on the news. "This stuff is boring!"
"I know, but I need to know what's going on..."
"... has escaped the county jail and hasn't been seen since yesterday. Local police are scouting the area. Back to you Tom."
"See, Anastasia? I missed who escaped."
"A bad guy."
"Yeah... Oh, well it's not like it'll have much effect on us."

Just then, my mom got back from work, "I'm home."
"Mommy!" Anastasia ran up and hugged her. "Jax got flared."
"He got what?"
"Flared,"
"Jax what's going on?"
"I got fired, mom." I confessed.
"What? Why?"
"Some bozo decided to steal $100 and get everyone in on blaming me. But mom, I didn't do it!" I explained.
"I know  honey. Maybe we can check the security cameras?" She suggested.
"Don't be ridiculous, mom that-" I paused "Wait, maybe it'll actually prove my innocence!"

I grabbed my keys and rush for the door.
"Where are you going?"
"I'll be quick. I'm gonna try and get my job back."
I start my car and drive to my work. I convinced my boss to check the cameras and he hesitantly agreed. Just as I had said, I didn't take it. It was Fred, the custodian. So I got my job back.

It was kind of confusing as to why it was all so rushed and there wasn't an actual report. But it's a good thing I won't need that job for very much longer. Maybe i should file a complaint with corporate.

Then I went to the grocery store to buy food for Zeta and I. And while I was at it, I got her a gift. Zeta has her problems, but she's a good person and I'm happier a few days with her than I ever was with Jessie.

Finally, I went home and prepared the food and packed the basket. I said goodbye to my parents and went to go pick up Zeta. We drove to the lake and set out the blanket and food.

"This is nice," she says.
"Yeah, it's great hanging out." I reply.
"So how've you been?" she asks me.
I chuckled, "Well, I almost lost my job, but that whole thing got sorted out."
"Oh man, what happened?"
"Long story..."

We hung out for what seemed like five minutes, but sooner than we expected, it was time for me to bring her back home. "I had a great time. And this food is great, I didn't know you could cook." I snickered, "I had help, but before we go I wanted to give you something." I reach in the basket and hand her a box. She opens it and gasped, "You shouldn't have." I laugh, "Its just a bracelet." She hesitates to slide it on her hand, "I love it, thank you. I have something for you too." I was handed a watch, "Woah, this must be with thousands." She shrugged, "Whatever, I don't care... it was my dad's so..." I give her a hug, "I'm sorry... but I can't accept this." She raised an eyebrow, "I'll take the bracelet if you take the watch." I sigh, "My, my, my, you run a hard bargain, but... deal." As if sealing the deal, I place the bracelet around Zeta's wrist and she puts the watch on me.

I put my arm around her as we scooched closer together, "I wish we could just stay in this moment forever."
I chuckle and nod, "Me too."
"I mean just look at this view." She exclaimed happily "The moon, the lake, this picnic..."
"Each other?" I asked, sort of finishing her sentence.
I knew by her face that we wanted to kiss each other, and I wanted to "take it slow," but the moment seemed so perfect so I placed my lips against hers. I waited for her approval before I deepened the kiss, she shivered a little and I wrapped my arms in her hair. She clutched me back like I was going to stop, but we just sat there embracing each other for a while before we let go. I wanted to tell her I loved her, but I respected her wanting to take it slowly. But I knew that I'd get there, eventually.

Zeta's POV

Maybe taking it slow wasn't such a good idea. He'd gotten me this far! I really did like him; he's a respectful guy and he isn't pushy. I don't want to just jump in, but I don't wan  to wait a million years. But is it what he wants? Should I ask him?
"Jax I-I..."
"Shh..." he whispered softly "before you say anything, I just wanted you to know that you can always be honest with me."
"I felt so like I-"
"Wait," he interrupted my again, and I was about to protest before I realized it was urgent.
"What is it?" I asked, quietly.
He started pulling me closer, "I saw on the news that someone had escaped from prison, and I thought I heard something... we better get back."
"Oh no you don't!" Shouted a voice, coming out of the darkness.
I screamed, then I recognised the face, "Dad!?"
