Jax's POV

"Jessie?" she waved "What... What the hell are you doing here?"
"What? You're not gonna ask me to come in?" she replied.
I checked over my shoulder to see if Zeta was behind me, then went out and shut the door. "Jessie? Seriously, why the fuck are you here?"
She sighed, "Well... I just wanted to see how you were."
I crossed my arms, "Is that all?"
She nodded, playing innocent.
"I really... REALLY doubt that." she looked down at the ground "Come on, Jessie. Talk to me... what's going on?"

She let out a long puff of air, then smirked a little, "I missed you." My eyes bulged a little.

Wasn't expecting that...

She waltzed her fingers up my arm all the way to my shoulder, then placed both hands around my neck and kissed me. I pulled away instantly.
"Jessie, what the hell?!"
Her eyebrows furrowed, "What?"
"You know I'm with Zeta! You know I have a child with her. So what in the actual fuck do you think you're doing?"
She didn't flinch or change her expression at all, "I was trying to seduce you to leave that pathetic emo-girl and come back with me." she said, nonchalantly "I've been... really lonely." her voice went down into a whisper.

I backed up, "Okay Jessie. Thats enough. I'm gonna have to ask you to leave and I don't want you coming back either. You're insane. High school is over. Stop acting like it lasts forever, because it doesn't. Grow the hell up!"

If looks could kill...

I slammed the door behind me, without saying goodbye. Did she just ask me to hook up with her? Really? Now?! Some people just never change.
"Who was that?"
I jumped and clutched my heart, "Oh. Zeta, you scared me." I walked up to her "It was nobody."
Zeta rolled her eyes, "Who was it, actually?"
I hesitated, "Don't be mad... it was Jessie."
"Jessie?!" She exclaimed.
"Zeta. I know, but don't worry. I sent her away and told her to piss off. She definitely won't be bothering us anymore."
Zeta folded her arms, "She better not! I never trusted her!" And with that, she stormed off.

I flopped on the couch. I really hate it when Zeta and I fight. I prefer it when we can cuddle on the couch with me rubbing her shoulders or playing with her hair and her head on my chest and holding hands. I miss times just her and me. I'm not saying I don't love Ade because of course I do. I just don't understand why Zeta and I can't take one night to spend together.

Just one night...

What'll it take to convince her? I know! I'll put on the romance... starting with an apology for what I said.

I called up my mom to ask if she would mind watching Ade for the night. And of course, she didn't. Then, I quickly drove to the store, bought Zeta's favorite candy and a bouquet of roses. Then I got dressed in something nice, but not too over-the-top.

While Zeta was feeding Ade, I lit some candles in the kitchen and waited for her to come back. I held out the chocolate and flowers, "Will you forgive me?" She smiled, but was a little confused, "For what?" I sighed, "For what I said earlier. It was so stupid and harsh. I'm really sorry, Zeta." She laughed, "Of course I forgive you, you goof." She kissed me "Forgiveness is kind of our thing now, huh?" I chuckled, "Maybe..."

My mom came at around 6:30 to pick up Ade. After calming Zeta down after she left, I helped her pick out and outfit.
"How am I supposed to pick something to wear if I don't even know where we're going?" She questioned.
"By trusting me." I say.
"Um... yeah, I can't do that?" she laughed.
I gasp, "What? Why not?"
She giggled, "Because! You have no fashion sense."
I pretend to be insulted, "What?! I have an amazing style!"
She shook her head, "Hmmm... I don't think so. You should just tell me where we're going."
I stood up, picked her up, and spun her onto the bed, "That's why it's called a surprise!"

While I spun her, she giggled and I laughed until we flopped onto the bed. As the laughter ceased, we just laid there sort of staring into each other's eyes. I pushed her hair behind her ear and then she put her forehead on mine.

It was the first genuine moment we'd had in a long time.

"I love you... you know that right?" I asked. "Of course I do." she whispered back "Because I love you too."

After laying there for a while, she got ready and then we went out to the car. We drove mostly in silence. Not the awkward or angry silence, but we held hands and watched the night grow darker.

"Are we here?" She asked as I pulled up.I nod, "Yep. Make sure to grab your coat." She cocked her head to the side, "Why?" I smirk, "'Cause it's gonna get cold." I walk her out to the lake and set up the picnic. She sat down, "Cute... but unoriginal." I frown, "This is just the dinner part. And what's original these days anyway!?" She chuckled, "True."

After eating she asks, "So now what? What's the surprise?" I stand up and take my shirt, pants, shoes, and socks off. She gave me a weird look, "What are you doing?" I hold my hand out, "Come on!" She stood up, "Is that why I'm wearing this ugly dress? Because it didn't matter what I wore because you wanted me out of it anyway." I glare, "I liked that dress." She laughed before undressing.

"Follow me." I say as I lead her to the lake. She lets go of my hand, "Jax! No! It's way to cold!" I'm in the water ankle-deep, "Zeta! I'm can't do it alone! And the quicker you do it, the quicker you can come out and get warm." She whined for a little bit before ultimately running in with me and we got deep enough to go under and then hustled out, grabbed our coats, and cuddled together to get warm.

She shivered a bit, but it wasn't to bad. "See? Wasn't that fun?" Her lip quivered, "Skinny dipping in freezing cold water? Sure." She replied, sarcastically. "Come on! You love it!" She shook her head, "No." I looked down, Damn. "But!" She continues "I love you."
