"Doo too too too doo roo roo pa pa ta ta," I sing. "Doo too la la la l-"
"Can you stop singing?" Melanie interrupts.
"The faster we find the soap aisle, the sooner I'll stop singing," I confront her.
"Then why are you leading us to the food aisles?" She confronts.
"Hey, I haven't eaten a good breakfast," I reply. "I'm hungry."
"You'll sing to the songs on the radio in the car anyways," She realizes. I hum this time and look away from her to look at the supplies on the shelves right next to me, pretending that she hasn't said a word. She walks off to find the soap elsewhere. I continue to hum and look at the shelves.
All of the sudden, all in one minute, I bump into something whilst I'm in my haze. I bump into a shopping cart and then fall into the cart. I look up to see a girl about my age.
"I-I-I-I'm sorry! I wasn't paying attention," I freaked. She shows a smile and lets out a giggle. I look up and stare. Wow. What a pretty giggle from a pretty girl.
"Hellooooo!" She says, with her hand waving in front of my face. But I was frozen. I just stare at her. At her beauty. I hear her sign and she pushes the cart while I'm still in it. I come to my senses when I feel a huge gust of wind. Suddenly, the cart stops. I turn around and see my sister with a piece of the cart in her hands with a bottle of soap.
"Sorry about that! I still don't know how he ended up being the older one," Melanie says. Pretty girl lets out a chuckle and says,
"It's fine. I have that effect on people," She brags. I start to try to get out the cart, but I fall. Classic. I'm not surprised. They both laugh.
"Show's over," I say with my voice cracking. I clear my throat and grab the soap from Melanie's hands. "I'll go pay for this." Then I just walk away, feeling like I've already paid with my unavoidable embarrassment. After I pay, I went to Melanie and pretty girl. They're there where I left them.
"Hey Melanie, let's go," I say.
"Awww, okay." She replies.
"Bye!" Says pretty girl. My cheeks turn hot and I know it's only going to get hotter once we get in the car. I hope there are some good songs on the radio I could sing loudly to avoid hearing Melanie tease me for the embarrassment that I showcased. Or else, I'm fucked.
