"Okay. My turn," Vanessa laughs before taking another spoon of her frozen yogurt. "What are the top three most important things and/or people in your life?" We sit on the park bench.
"Probably, my mom, my sister, and my smokes," I answer. "And maybe even you if this date works out," I flirt. This time her cheeks are the ones that turn red.
"First of all, I'm flattered. Second of all, that was a surprisingly quick answer," She points out.
"Yeah, my dad died so I have one small human spot for you in my heart," I admit, chuckling.
"How did he die?" She asks.
"A bakery where my mom wanted to get him a birthday cake caught on fire and after he was done saving everyone inside, he got trapped, burned, and died," I say.
"I'm sorry. How old were you?"
"All my mom said was that I was too young to understand it all," I answer, keeping my head down. I can tell that she could sense how I feel about all of this.
"Hey," She smiles softly. I look up at her. "Maybe talking to the people that he saved will make you feel better. It'll let you know that he died for a reason."
"I think you just planned our next date," I smirk. Her brain is pretty as the rest of her.
"Actually, our second date is finishing act one of that book," She reminds me.
"Hey, spring break is here. We can save that double date with Rome and Julia for later," I smile.
"Romeo and Juliet," She laughs, correcting me. I laugh with her before taking another spoon of my frozen yogurt.
