"A book of lies. Do those words mean anything to you?" He wandered the front of the classroom, "Conner, do these words mean anything to you? A book of lies." Mr. James repeated. "I believe they are talking about the education system, and how we don't need the textbooks to teach us because it's just a bunch of jibber-jabber and all it's doing is drilling unneeded thoughts and facts in our heads. But I could be wrong, I mean you are the teacher." Conner said, still hungover. "Do you know why I called on you Mr. Kyle?" "No sir, no I do not. Do enlighten me." he rubbed his eyes. "I usually call on the hungover kids because it's fun to see their reactions when I tell them why I called on them." Conner stiffened. The class laughed, I laughed, Conner looked at me and seemed worried, "What's wrong?" I asked quietly, "I... I don't know... I need help... Kiss me... Now!" he whispered urgently, the class looked at him, and I swung onto his lap, I grabbed his face and kissed him.
"Need a little air with that tongue? Damn that's a lot of tongue down your throat Tiff, breathing is important you know." Madison yelled. He pulled his tongue out of my mouth and sighed with his eyes closed and a smile on his face, "Why did you want me to kiss you again?" I whispered, "I just needed your body next to mine, I was going crazy." he whispered back, opening his eyes and looking at me. "Oh shit! That was smooth!" Daniel yelled, everyone looked at him and in unison, "Shhhh." They turned back to us, looking at us staring into each other's souls, quietly smiling and awwing at each other. "Class, take your seats." Mr. James instructed. I got off of him and we held hands as Mr. James talked.
"So, a book of lies is, as Conner put it, 'jibber-jabber' but not just textbooks, it could be a metaphor for life, or a book, such as the one Tiffany is writing." He stopped talking to think a subtle thought, but the class couldn't contain their thoughts, "Woah, Tiff you're like, writing a book, that's really cool!" Candi shouted, "Yeah, like major." Shyanne yelled after her, the whole class went nuts, continuous, "Can I be in it?" "That's so cool." "Wow, really?" The only people who kept quiet were me and Conner, we stayed quietly in our seats while the others were out of theirs, standing, wandering around, "Quiet everyone, this is the reason Mr. Kyle and Ms. Richards are my favorite students, sit down." a cloud of gasps escaped the mouthes of the students, "Oh don't act so surprised, the first project of the year they did a giant poster, which was completely unnecessary, but it got them an A+." "Who's your second favorite student?" Daniel screamed, "In second place would be Madison and Christine, but I'm not keeping track." Mr. James spoke loudly and clearly. "That's keepin track my man." Tyler said, leaning back in his chair. "Now if we could get back to the lesson?" he stood a moment and looked around the room, "A book of lies, in my opinion, sounds like a great title for a book. Consider that Tiffany. We are going to do a little project, I've got a few textbooks here, we're going to make a picture, if you haven't realized this class has nothing to do with communications, the collage will either be a poem about why school textbooks are unneeded in life, or it can be a picture representing how you feel about school." Madison raised her hand, "Um, Mr. James, can we work in partners?" she asked quietly, "By show of hands who wants to work in partners?" Mr. James said, only the four of us raised our hands, "Okay, you can partner with whoever or work alone, I don't care as long as it gets done, a few of you are failing my class, if you want extra credit write a short story or take original pictures of sunsets or something, I don't care," he looked at his watch and sighed, "Thirty more minutes, socialize for extra credit, talk about your weekend, go."
Everyone half talked and half played on their phones, Madison and Christine were flirting with their noses touching, they look really happy when they're near each other, it makes me smile when people around me are happy, love is a beautiful thing, "Why are you so happy?" Conner asked smiling at me, "I love you." I beamed back at him, "I love you too," he kissed me gently on my forehead. "Awww," the class gushed, "Oh can it, I can't tell the woman I love that I love her without a crowed," Conner laughed. I was blushing hard and Conner laughed again, "You're a beautiful person, you don't need to be a strawberry too." I lightly hit his strong arm and I kissed his jaw, "What if I want to be a strawberry when I grow up?" I kissed his jaw in a different spot, "You can be whatever you want baby, I believe in you," he whispered, I kissed his jaw again and again, all continuously moving towards his lips, "Am I going to have to hold you down and kiss you or are you going to kiss me?" Conner asked me quietly, I'm not proud of what I said next, and I said it a bit to loud at the moment, "You can tie me to a chair if you want to daddy," then the entire class just looked at me, "Sorry," I apologized, I don't apologize as much as I did in the beginning of the year, but I still apologize. "I don't judge, be yo kinky self boo." Landon laughed, "I agree with the circle," Lexy giggled cutely, "I'm gayer than a circle queen." Landon laughed.
"Everyone socialized, fifteen extra points for everyone, class dismissed." Mr. James shouted from his desk sleepily, "Tiffany, I need to talk to you." the class ooed. Conner walked with me to the front of the classroom, "Yes sir?" I asked quietly, he smiled, "How's your book going?" he asked, I was relived, I thought I was in trouble. I sighed, "I think it's going okay, it's about my life, in fact I'll write this in later, it's kinda paradoxing. I'm on chapter thirteen." I talked fast. "What are you going to call this chapter?" Mr. James asked, Conner was standing behind me with his arms across my stomach, "I think I'll call it, 'A Book Of Lies'. " I pondered the thought and nodded my head, "Yes, 'A Book Of Lies' is exactly what I'll call it," I took out my phone and typed it in, "There, I've been writing everything down, it tells the story exactly as it happened," I said smiling.
"Are we in a story?" Mr. James questioned, "Yes, I'd like to believe somewhere in another world, far far away, an alien is writing a book, and we're his characters, and those of us without books being written for us, we write autobiographies, then, everyone of us have a story, some of us have action, and others have boring ones, comedies, tragedies, dramas. Everyone's story is being written differently, I'd like to believe it, because it's beautiful, and I love beautiful things." I said dreamily, "That's beautiful," Conner kissed my head. "I love that view, I'll read your book once it's done, I want to re-live all of your adventures, dramas, comedies and tragedies. Write it well, and vividly, you may leave." Mr. James said peacefully, "Thank you," I whispered. He is a truly nice man, something feels off about him, oh well.
Oh well.
