Ashley's P.O.V

There's another crash louder this time and we both race from the room, Harry leading the way. What the hell could it be? My mind races through all the possibilities but they all revolve around Harry's father breaking his promise to Harry and I can't let that happen, I can't let Harry break again. He's been through too much.

"What the fuck?" Harry shouts when he enters the kitchen where the noise is coming from.

I stop behind him and slowly peer around his shoulder, my mind racing with thoughts about what this could be. Please don't be anything bad. Please...

My thoughts drift off when I see Harry's dad stood in the middle of the kitchen surrounded by various pots and pans. He looks up frowning at them on the floor but doesn't say anything.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Harry asks again his tone holding onto anger but when his voice quivers at the end I know that he's scared for the answer his father will give. I don't blame him.

"Trying to...to make some food," the disorientated man states. He doesn't look so good, his face is pale and he looks wobbly on his feet. Sweat covers his forehead and beads down his face. His expression is blank as though he really isn't sure what he's doing.

"Harry he doesn't look so good...I think maybe we should get a doctor to check him out..." I whisper, coming to stand by his side.

"And how would we explain his injury Ash?" His voice is raised and filled with panic. "They'll keep asking questions and I can't..."

"It's alright Harry." I take hold of his hand, squeezing it tightly. "We can just explain that he tripped and fell."

"And what about the amount of alcohol in his system? How do we explain that?"

"We were celebrating you doing well in a school exam?" I suggest. It's a stupid suggestion and I know that Harry hasn't been to any of his recent classes, he was out of town – running from his conscience. And everything in the end would add up and we'd be found in our lie and God knows what will happen then.

"And they'd believe that after what happened to mom? Ash it would never work."

"But you can't just leave him like this Harry he's hurt. He did hit his head pretty bad you saw what happened in there." I add concerned.

"I'm going to...to start cooking now..." Des mumbles as he picks up a pan and starts walking over to the oven.

"The hell you are," Harry interrupts unhooking his hand from mine and starts moving towards his father. "Dad why don't you go upstairs and sleep off that headache you told me about earlier?"

"Maybe...later..." Every word he speaks sounds as though he's in pain, maybe he has concussion. I honestly wouldn't be surprised but I'm genuinely concerned and I don't want anything bad to happen to Harry's dad not after what happened to his mother.

"No dad now!" Harry encourages with an edge to his voice making Des obey without a word. He starts hobbling towards the stairs swaying when he comes to the bottom step, he braces himself on the wall but his hand slips making him topple over into a human heap on the floor.

"Dad," Harry shouts rushing towards the man.

"I don't care what you say Harry I'm calling an ambulance." Des is unconscious on the floor and Harry is kneeling beside him, he bows his head and his curls bounce once as he nods his head in agreement with me - I rush towards the landline.

Everything else after that is a blur. I call the paramedics and they arrive moments later taking Des and Harry straight to the hospital, they ask a few obvious questions such as; name, age and how this might have happened - Harry answered as best as he could. I said I'd follow them behind in Harry's dad's car after I inform Sue next door. She has Gemma after all and it's only right to tell her what's going on. Harry agreed silently while kissing me on the forehead, a simple gesture that means a lot to both of us in so many ways. I could see the fear in his eyes, how they have darkened a shade since our time together not that long ago, and things can change so fast.
