Sitting on the white couch, in her Manhatten apartment. Dark hair, dark eyes, dark clothes. She was only half-listening to the sound of her friend's voices through her headset. A lot of what they said was bullshit. They weren't physically any younger than she was but mentally, they were old enough to be her sons.
"Suck my diiiick!" One guy yells, sniping an opponent from his position on top of a nearby building. The controlled vibrated in Blaire's hands as the explosions went off around her player.
"Jesus!" She shrieked through her microphone. The guys she was playing with laughed at her. She rolled her eyes. "You guy wanna take this seriously?" She asked in her thick NY accent.
"Chillax,"One of the guys replied. "We're just having a little fun!"
And they wonder why I prefer the campaign. She thought to herself.
The alarm on her phone went off, she looked down at her phone which sat next to her. "Aw, man!" She hissed. "I've gotta go, guys, I'm late for work."
"Huh, later loser!" One of the guys said before running her over with their car.
"Fuck you, Jason." She laughed. She turned off her console and jumped up off the couch. Man, I gotta stop playing that damn game all day. She thought. She knew her boss wouldn't be angry, though, after all, she usually got played to play that game.
Blaire showered and got dressed. She dressed casually, in a band t-shirt with a flannel over it, black skinny jeans and her Docs. She slung her backpack over her shoulder and ran out the door.
The best thing about living in Manhatten was the busses, so many busses. Buses in Harlem, buses in Time Square, buses on the upper west side. Buses everywhere. Blaire always took advantage of the public transport, although the buses were usually never clean, they were a cheap and easy ride from point A to B. She'd thought about getting a car but what would she do with it, where would she park it? Even the richest of New Yorkers didn't usually have cars. It was fine, she liked taking the bus.
Blaire waited impatiently at a nearby bus stop for someone to come and pick her up. She could take a taxi but she wanted to save money. Many taxis that passed her honked their horns to signal they were free but she politely declined. finally, the bus rolled up to the stop outside Blair's apartment and she hopped on.
Blaire watched as New York passed her by, it was a wonderful city and she didn't wish to be anywhere else in the world. it was the city she was born in and the city she will die in. besides, she worked a job she loved here. Why would she ever want to change?
The bus dropped Blaire off at the office, she thanked the driver and hopped off. The building she worked in touched the sky, it was huge. She walked in and smiled at the friendly receptionist before hopping in the elevator and heading up to the eighteenth floor. She looked at herself in the mirror as she ascended. She was very proud of how good her winged eyeliner looked that day.
The doors opened and there it was, her home away from home. Rockstar North headquarters. Man, she loved her job. Blaire was a game developer, it was the job she'd always wanted, and she had worked really hard to become qualified enough to live her dream. Years of studying, late night and lectures had paid off, though. She really did love what she did.
"Hey, Blaire!" A co-worker said as she passed him, he was gone before she could say hello back. It was a very friendly community of people. Smart, funny, people. Blaire grabbed a coffee and a croissant from one of the cafe's from the food court, before taking the north hallway towards the area where her desk was.
The room she worked in was large and had many desks lined up, several rows of them, all with very advanced PC's on top of them. Blaire's computer sat between the ones of two large, sweaty dudes. She didn't mind too much, though, she tried not to think about it. Blaire sat down at her desk, she landed in her chair with a thud.
"Late night?" A co-worker asked her. Blaire caught her own reflection on the computer screen, she hadn't realised how tired she looked.
"Oh, yeah." She laughed. She'd been up all night playing video games. She thought she was going to have to find a place no nap while she was on her lunch break. She booted up her computer and sat back in her office chair. Man, I'm really not focused today. She thought.
"Hey guys, can I get your attention please!" One of the big corporate bosses. Called out top everyone in the office. everyone looked up from their computers. "Alright, the guys are coming in today to work of some of the new DLC, okay they're going to be working in the back building. Nobody disturb them okay. Thanks." The guy walked out of the office, quite matter erupted from everyone in the office.
'Man, I totally forgot about the new DLC, we are going to have so much work to do." The guy who sat opposite to Blaire said.
"Yeah," Blaire laughed. "So much work." She said softly. But she was thinking something else. The actors, she thought. Man, those guys are attractive af. The cute guys were one of the greatest parts about working at Rockstar. When she said that, she obviously wasn't talking about the neck-beards who sat in the office with her but the actors... Oh wow.
Don't bother them? She thought. Ha, good luck. Blaire popped a piece of bubblegum in her mouth and smiled wickedly to herself. Now, I've just got to find a way to get back there.
