"Alright, positions everyone, we're losing light!" After lunch had ended, everyone got back to work pretty swiftly. Blaire had her position at the computer, next to the director, she felt pretty important. Chris sat at the light board further back. Blaire turned to look at him, he smiled back at her, she giggled.
The director took his seat next to Blaire. "You're filling in for Mark?" He asked.
Blaire nodded. "Yes, sir." She smiled.
"You know how to work this thing?" He asked motioning to the motion capture program.
"Yes, sir. It's pretty self-explain story, I'm a graphic designer, I've worked with similar technology before." Blaire explained.
The director just shook his head. "You kids are too damn smart, I swear to God." He said. Blaire laughed. "We're about to get started, the guys are just getting dressed. You'll live this, they look hilarious in their suits."
"Oh," Blaire said mostly to herself, the director just nodded and went back to yelling at other employees to get in their place. Blaire was really anticipating seeing everyone in their motion capture gear. They were pretty tight, we'd be in for real show.
Lights, camera, action. Before she knew it, it was time to go. It's fine, she, though. I just have to sit here and make sure everything goes smoothly.
"Alright, you guys. We're rolling." The director yelled from beside of Blaire, she kept her head fixed on the screen, as not to embarrass herself. She didn't want to fangirl in front of everyone. She was professional, she had a job to do. A group of actors entered the ring and performed their parts just as they had rehearsed.
She watched as their figures moved on screen, everything was fine. She began to listen, she heard many familiar voices from having worked on and played the game for many hours. She tensed at one voice, in particular, one she would recognise wherever she went.
Steven Ogg, she thought. Good God. Blaire wanted to remain professional, she didn't want to be caught staring at anyone, and she knew of she looked up she wouldn't be able to concentrate on the beautiful men who stood before her.
Everything went well for a while, however, there started to be a slight problem. Steven's motion wasn't in sync with the already produced animation, it was outside of the guidelines. Blaire knew her job was to let the actors know if they are out of range but when she thought about it, a flock of butterflies invaded her stomach.
She wanted to say something, hell she needed to say something but she was so afraid of making a fool of herself. Blaire decided to inform the director. "Um, excuse me." She whispered to him."
The director turned around suddenly. "Oh Blaire, yes. Is there a problem?" The director asked in a tone that said 'why are you talking to me right now' rather than a 'what can I do to help you.'
Blaire swallowed hard. "Well, it's just that. Steven is out of frame." She pointed to the computer monitor, he observed it.
"Well, for chrissake. Let him know." The director frowned. He must have seen fear in Blaire's eyes because his next move was spontaneous. "Cut!" He called out. Everyone stopped. "Steven, are you listening? The pretty girl has been calling out to you for the last two minutes, are you fucking deaf?"
Steven looked at The Director and then to Blaire, and then back at the director again. "Shit, I must be." He laughed. "I didn't hear a thing." He looked directly at Blaire. "Sorry." He said softly, but loud enough so she could hear. Starstruck once again. Blaire struggled to find her words.
"You're, uh. Steven, you're a bit out of frame." She said. She could feel herself turning red. Oh fuck, don't do this, don't do this, she begged.
"Ah," Steven said. "Thought so, where am I?"
Blaire tried to force herself to stop blushing so she could deliver her instructions. She breathed deeply and tried to relax. "Just come forward a little bit and left about an inch and a half."
He did what she told him to. Blaire looked back at the monitor, he was in position again. "Am I okay?" He called over to her.
Without thinking, Blaire stuck up both her hands and gave two big thumbs ups. She regretted it immediately. Oh my God, why am I so weird. Steven didn't mind he smiled big and stuck his thumbs up back.
Now that the communicating with the actor's bubble ad been popped, Blaire now found herself more confident when it came to conversing with other actors about where they had to be positioned. But she still got all hot and bothered when she had to direct Steven, and she knew he could tell.
The way he smiled at her when she caught his eye made her feel all kinds of ways. Oh shit, she thought. Maybe I should have stayed on the eighteenth floor.
