Alaska

It was a few months later, Adam and I had gotten back together, and Ashley and I haven't spoken. I woke up next to his body and I sighed. I've missed Ashley the past few months. But I'm pretty sure she's moved on and forgotten all about me.

I got up and went into the shower, trying to drown my thoughts out. Afterwards, I threw on some shorts and a t shirt, with converse. I needed to buy some more cigarettes. I grabbed my phone and decided to walk towards the drugstore. I got inside and bought a pack of cigarettes. I realized I needed some makeup wipes so I go to the back, running into someone. They help me up, and as my eyes adjusted, I met with her hazel eyes. Her hair was still long and blue, but it was a bit faded.

"Ali," she says. Her voice was raspy as usual.

"Hey Ash," I say quietly.

"How have you been?" She asked.

"Adam and I got back together." She sighed.

"Of course you did."

"How are you?" I ask her.

"I've been playing shows and I'm working on some things so yeah." She looks at the ground. "I miss you." Her voice was barely above a whisper. I stare at her as she looks at the ground.

"I miss you too."

She looks up, dropping the items she had in her hands to grab my arm and pull me in for a hug. I could feel her warm breath in my ear as we hugged, not a word being said.

She leaned back and pressed her lips against my forehead. Then she brought her lips to my ear once again.

"Meet me at the park later." She says before letting go of me. She grabs her things and disappears, as if she was never there. I leave the store, without my makeup wipes, because I was so confused but at the same time, I wanted to see her.

I got inside my apartment and Adam was waiting for me.

"Where were you babe?" He places his hands on my butt.

"I was buying some cigarettes," I say trying to walk away. His grip gets tighter on me, and he kissed my neck.

"Not now Adam." I say trying to push him off.

"Why not?" His hand goes in my shorts.

"Please, just let me go." I say and he gets angry, finally letting go and storming into my room. He's changed. He made me think he actually cared about me at first. So I took him back. But now I'm realizing he doesn't care. He always forces me to have sex with him. He's moved into my apartment and acts like he owns it. And I'm too afraid to tell him no. I've seen him angry before, and I don't want to see it again. I sit on the couch and sigh.

I pick up my phone and call Matty, who answers on the third ring.

"Hey pretty girl, what's up?" He was always so sweet to me. He was like a guy best friend that every girl dreamed of.

"Matty, I can't be with him anymore." I say trying to keep my voice down.

"What do you mean?"

"It's getting to the point where he gets really frustrated when I say no to him, and I feel like he's gonna keep hurting me." There a pause at the other end.

"I'll talk to him." He says blankly.

"I don't want you two to fight."

"Hey, I'm not gonna fight him unless he physically puts his hands on me. I don't want you being afraid of him or being hurt by him. I'll talk to him tomorrow. Call me if you need anything at all, you know I'm here for you." I smile at how good he is to me.
