Hello guys!
Lily
Lily woke to Mary shaking her."Geez sleepy-head," she laughed. "It's already 10:30. Breakfast is ready."
Lily, who was usually a morning person, was surprised to hear it was so late. She told Mary that she'd be down in a few minutes and had to take a moment to freshen up. She ran a brush through her hair, pulled it into a messy bun, brushed her teeth, threw on athletic clothes and jogged downstairs.
The first person she saw was James, so she immediately averted her eyes to the floor. She was going to be nice to him today, but she didn't know if she was ready to face him just yet. Part of her knew she owed him an apology, though. He was standing near the breakfast table with his hands in his pockets. His hair looked more rumpled than usual. Upon seeing Lily he turned and began to make conversation with Sirius.
Lily spent breakfast chatting with Remus about school work next year, NEWTs, and the choosing of Head Boy and Head Girl. These were the topics that they usually came across. They were both excited and nervous for their final year at Hogwarts.
As Remus spoke, Lily watched the way the scar on his lip moved as he spoke. She had never asked him what had happened to him that had left him with these scars. She didn't think she ever would. It seemed too personal.
The topic of Head Boy and Girl came up again and Lily was thrilled to talk about it.
"I've been trying for Head Girl since my first year. I've worked really hard to try and get the position," Lily explained. As she turned to look at Mar, Lily caught Potter's eyes from behind his glasses and felt her face instantly go red. He was looking at her with a curious expression, studying her in a way. She immediately felt self conscious.
"I'm sure you'll get it," Remus said with a wave of his hand. Lily grinned at him.
"Alright, alright. Enough of this unimportant chatter," Sirius cut in. "Who's in for some Quidditch today?"
"You know I'm in," James said with a grin. The boys high-fived one another.
"I'll play for fun," Peter said. Mary and Marlene nodded in agreement.
"I'll pass," Lily said. She watched James' face fall from across the table. "Sorry, but I don't do heights. I'll make sure to watch, though. Maybe I can keep score."
"I'll play," Remus said. "Any cheating, though, and I'll just go sit with a Lily."
Peter smirked, showing that he didn't plan on following any rules. He was going to cheat anyway.
"We won't," Sirius said with a sarcastic, devilish grin. James nodded, but for once he seemed serious. Lily watched as his eyes dashed from Remus to her. She quickly realized that he didn't want Remus to go sit with her. Her eyebrows furrowed with confusion. Why would he care if Remus spent time with me?
When breakfast was finished, the teens grabbed brooms from the Potter's back shed and walked over to the open field of grass in the back yard. Lily took a book with her to keep her busy after realizing that keeping score was pointless. As everyone said goodbye to her and mounted their brooms, Lily took a seat in the grass.
Time passed by quickly. Lily enjoyed watching her friends play around with a bludger. James had to wrestle with it to bring it out to the field. The picture of it made Lily laugh over and over. They had made some sort of game where they would hit the bludger at each other to try to knock the opponents off of their brooms. Although Lily and Remus were both against the game, James and Sirius had been thrilled to get everyone involved. James and Sirius, the only Quidditch players, were obviously the best on their brooms, so they were easily able to hit the bludger in the direction of the other players. The others were having a more difficult time. Lily thought it was quite funny, but Peter, who had barely been missed four times, had had enough.
After the fourth time, Peter pulled out his wand and pointed it at the bludger. Muttering a curse under his breath, he was able to deflect the rogue thing away from him. It shot off in another direction, and Peter seemed pleased that he had been able to use magic to defend himself. He had never been the best at doing magic on the spot. He grinned and was about to call out to the others until he realized that he had shot the bludger into the direction of the one person who couldn't protect herself.
Lily, who was laying on her stomach and reading, had no idea what was going on until she heard James scream out her name. Raising her eyes, she say that the bludger was hurtling towards her. She had no time to move. The bludger was only a second away. In a panic, she turned on the spot and, with a crack, she was gone. The bludger rocketed into the ground where she had been sitting only a moment ago.
James
James had been having a great time playing Quidditch until he saw Peter's bludger fly straight at Evans' head."EVANS!" he screamed. He broke into a dive, barrelling towards the bludger, but he knew he'd never make it. He watched as fear flashed in her eyes, but she suddenly turned on the spot and disappeared. The bludger pounded into the ground where she had been, but she was gone.
Fear flooded through James. Where is she? The enchantments are up. She can't get back. James turned to Peter who looked as if he was going to be sick. Everyone was watching James, waiting for him to yell, but James was too worried about Evans for him to care.
"We'll talk later," James said through gritted teeth. Wormtail cowered. "We just need to make sure that she is alright."
James looked to Remus. "I'm going out to where the enchantments end to see if she tries to apparate back to the manor."
Remus nodded. "I'll come, too."
With that, the two boys flew to the edge of the protections and waited. Panic was flooding through him. What if she hadn't thought to disapparate? She'd be dead. He tried to push his thoughts out of his mind and focus on finding her. James tried to see if anyone was on the ground or to listen for the sound of apparition, but it was no luck. His breathing became quicker and he felt sick.
Remus flew over to him. He rested a hand on James' shoulder and tried to reassure him. "Look, James. I know Lily. She's a tough girl. I'm sure she'll be f..."
CRACK!
James looked around for a moment until he was caught off guard by a bloodcurdling scream. A scream he hoped he'd never have to hear. A scream he had feared all of his life.
Lily's scream.
Well, that's the chapter. Hehehe I'm so mean.
Next chapter will elaborate don't worry. I'll post soon. What did you think of this chapter?
