Hey everyone!
I've been so excited to write this chapter because it's the first time we see Lily and James together. *squeals*
Disclaimer: JKR owns all of these characters/story *sobs*
Well aren't my moods just swinging. Anyway, this chapter is a little longer, but here you go.Lily
It had been one week since she had sent her response letter to James. Lily had already confirmed with her parents that she would be allowed to stay at the Potters' manor for 3 days. Although her father was skeptical, her mom said it was good for her to go and hang out with some of her school friends. Her mom knew how hard it was for Lily to be under the same roof as Petunia all of the the time with little contact to the wizarding world. James had sent her another letter saying that he would arrive around 1:00 to pick her up today. It was currently 1:05 and he still hadn't showed. It really shouldn't bother you this much, Lily thought. It was such a classic James move. He was late for everything, yet she couldn't help feeling quite annoyed.
To pass some time, Lily looked through her tiny luggage to see if she had forgotten anything. She had charmed her luggage with an extension charm to fit all of her clothes into the smallest luggage the family owned. Lily sat on her bed and stared at the ceiling, counting the seconds she sat waiting.
One. Two. Three...
A long time passed and she became even more agitated. After what felt like hours of boredom, she finally heard a knock on her front door. She rolled off of her bed and tiptoed to the door of her bedroom.
Lily heard the front door being opened and a familiar muffled voice downstairs.
"Hello Mr. Evans, I'm James Potter. I'm here to pick up your daughter."
Lily grabbed her luggage, checked her hair in the mirror (wait one second, why did I bother to check the mirror???), and walked downstairs into the kitchen. Her eyes searched the sunny little room until they landed on him.
He had grown. That was definitely the first thing she noticed. Was that even possible? He had to be around 6ft with a lean, athletic build. His hair was messy as usual, his glasses were pushed up to show his hazel eyes, and his posture was seemingly relaxed. James leaned against the counter chatting rapidly with Lily's mom. Her mom was laughing at something he had just said.
Lily fake coughed to announce that she had entered the room. James, who had already been smiling, practically beamed at the sight of her.
Their eyes met from behind his glasses, and for a moment she was reminded of the young boy who used to stare at her in every class. The same boy who would call her name in the halls and would sketch her initials on his scratch parchment. Lily hadn't seen this boy in a long time; since the beginning of their sixth year in fact. James had vowed to move on from her, and she was grateful for it. And yet, sometimes, she couldn't help but see the boy he used to be in the way he looked at her.
He stared at her for a second before he snapped out of his trance.
"Hey Evans," James said as he continued to smile at her. Lily remembered that he had made her wait, so she gave him a bitter look and crossed her arms. The clock on the wall behind him read 2:45.
"You're late," she said matter-of-factly. Her mother gave her a warning look, but James only seemed to smile brighter at this. It annoyed her.
