I'm sorry that this is going to be a really short chapter, but I just wanted to make sure to post something. Enjoy!

Monday had gone by in a blur. The day had been time for the Marauders to lay down and joke with each other. Eventually, Madam Pomfrey had practically kicked them out.

People had asked them repeatedly what had happened, but they had all decided to say that they had been in an accident while trying to prank a group of Slytherins. People tended to believe that story, but a lot weren't convinced. And by a lot, that meant Lily Evans.

Tuesday morning had been an awkward event. Lily kept glancing over at the scratches on James' arms and he had felt himself trying to hide them. She knows, was all he could think. She had continued to question their story, and she had easily had been able to see they were lying. Although, they never gave any information on what they were actually doing that night.

Finally, Tuesday night arrived. James dressed for Quidditch tryouts down in the changing rooms at the Quidditch pitch. As new captain of the Gryffindor team, it was his job to pick the best team possible. When James ventured onto the field, he was greeted by Gryffindors of all ages.

It was a cool and windy day. Over all, it was decent weather for Quidditch.

"Alright!" James called to them. The talking stopped and James gave them the usual speech- only the best players will be taken, you are not guaranteed a spot if you played last year, and you will not have an advantage because of your age. Once he was done, he started by choosing the beaters.

All of the contestants for the two beater positions were given a bat and told to fly up. James released a bludger and told them to hit it at different targets that he conjured with his wand. Sirius and a fifth year boy, Jason, were the clear winners. He told the rest to leave except for the two chosen players.

The rest of the tryout went like this, only the best were allowed to stay. He finally had a full team besides a keeper. He thought that the choice was obvious, a sixth year named Adam. After his tryout, James was about to send the rest away when a voice called him.

"Potter!"

James turned to where the voice had come from. Sitting in a stand to his left was the last person he expected to see... Lily. He couldn't believe it when he saw her. She was beckoning him to come over to her. James excused himself for a moment and flew up to Lily.

"What is it, Evans? Why are you here?" he asked her. Her red hair was whipping against her face in the wind.

"Not Adam," she said.

"What?" he asked her.

"Adam is quick, but he has no judgement of when and where the Quaffel is coming. Rewatch that blonde fifth year. I like her," she said, pointing to a girl standing near Sirius.

"Okay," James said. He flew back down to the others and announced he wanted the blonde, Ally, to retry.

Ally flew up to the posts to begin her tryout. James threw quaffels at her left and right. She wasn't quite as quick as Adam, but she had good reflexes and saved six out of six. James smiled.

"Ally stay," he announced. He caught Lily grinning in the stands. Everyone else left and his team remained before him.

"Welcome to the Gryffindor Quidditch team," he said to them with a grin. "Practices will be every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday."

He was about to excuse them before he added one last thing.

"Oh, and we better win that Quidditch Cup."
