Getting to know Bethany. {26}

Bethany's POV

"What the hell are you doing here?" Connor takes a dangerous step toward Robert and pushes me backwards gently, where Jenna and Rose grab my arm.

"Obviously, I'm here, at the great Minnesota get together!" Robert says with a grin on his face and his arms in the air.

Connor grips my hand and mutters 'c'mon' to me and his family. We walk to the hamburger place that we agreed to meet Brandon and Lucas at. I see them sitting at a table built for 6, and they motion us over. We walk to the table and take our seats.

Jenna sits to my right, Connor on my left. I feel his hand resting on my thigh and I loom up and smile at him.

"So, what did you guys do while we wandered off?" I hear Lucas ask.

Rose begins to say something, but Connor interrupts her.

"We got stopped by that fucking scumbag, Robert. He wants something with Bethany, and that's not going to happen." Connor looks at me and shoots me a look meaning that he won't let anything happen to me. I smile at him for that, and squeeze his hand under the table.

Our waitress comes and we order our drinks. We all thank her, and she walks away to retrieve our drinks. The last time I ordered something, was on the plane, and I don't recall ever getting them. Hmm.

"So, Bethany, I'm headed to a art show tomorrow, and I was wondering if you would like to join me? It would be a great was for us to get to know each other better." Rose offers me.

"Oh, that would be just lovely! I would love to come with you! Connor, is that alright?" I say back to Rose and ask Connor, hoping he says yes. Wait, who is he to tell me, I can go if I'd like. I just don't want him to get upset with me for going if he doesn't want me to. Connor shakes his head yes though.

"Wonderful! Jenna might join us, if she doesn't have plans with David. He did invite you to lunch, didn't he Jen?" Rose says.

"Yes he did. I might just have to go with you two though, so I get to know Bethany more!" Jenna laughs, and Rose and I join her.

"Not to barg or anything, but who is David?" I ask, my curiosity coming out, once again.

"That would be my boyfriend. He's very sweet. You'll have to meet him sometime!" Jenna explains to me who David is. I nod and tell her I would love to meet him.

We see our waitress coming back with our drinks, and then we order our food. She nods and walks away, once again.

Our food comes twenty minutes later, and in that twenty minutes, we all make small talk. Connor tells us about how he plans on going to New York to get a job next year, and how he would love for me to go with him. Brandon talks about getting ready to start up college again this September, and Jenna tells us that she is planning on moving to Illinois to live with her boyfriend, Jordan.

We all eat our food, and then leave the restaurant. Connor leaves a five dollar tip for our waitress.

Once we all arrive back at Connor's parents house, Rose invites me into the living room to watch her favorite TV show with her. I take up her offer, and Connor goes to play a video game with his brothers.

"So, Bethany, are you excited to move to New York with Connor this fall?" Rose immediately asks me.

I almost choke on my water that I had just taken a drink of. "What?" I ask, almost to harshly.

"You are moving to New York next year, aren't you?" Rose asks, again.

"Well, I haven't put complete thought into that. I mean, yes, I would love to! But, that's so far away and all of my family is in California. It is only August, so I'll think about it more when Connor starts to really think about it." I respond.
