A series of leaked Instagram Direct Messages originating from Kim Jongdae's account, finally reveal why the band member has been a no-show for the past month.
The 25-year old Korean idol has been diagnosed with a case of clinical depression and is currently placed under care in a mental hospital in Seoul.
It is believed that SM Entertainment's strong regiment induced Kim Jongdae's ill mental health, since he had previously shown signs of unhappiness and exhaustion.
The leaked DMs had been exchanged between him and the young Irish student in question who had been closely observed after five band members interacted with her Instagram account.
Although the general tone in the DMs is amicable, many fans fear a romantic relationship evolving between the singer and the unknown girl.
Originally it was Kim Jongdae who approached the student, the first DMs speak a story which hundred thousands of fans dream about: she was the only one who noticed his unhappiness; even long before SM Entertainment and Kim Jongdae himself.
This story, of course, draws close attention to the mental health of many K-Pop idols before and after Kim Jongdae, who might experience the same sort of issues.
