Chapter 5

The next day, I fell a bit sick but my mom made a fuss over it that she forbid me to go out from the house and made me lie down on bed all day. She even made breakfast for me to eat and gave medicine. In addition, I slept right after that till' it was evening. I woke up and felt a little better yet I still had those headaches.

I looked at my nightstand and found a digital video disc box placed on it. With no further thinking as I just woke up with a blank mind, I slowly go up and took my laptop to play the disc. I read the synopsis and got interested in it that I watched eight straight episodes until it was late at night.

I stopped because I was starving and did not even have the energy to go on watching. However, I was always curious of what would come next, it was very entertaining.

I rushed down the stairs and suddenly heard the front door open, it was my mom who came back late from work.

She said, "Hello, Ae Yeunnie, my beautiful daughter... Give mom a biiiiiiiggg~~ huuuuggg~"

I ran towards her and went into her arms, I immediately pulled away because I smelt strong alcohol coming from her body. That proved she had gone drinking maybe with her co-workers or just her friends.

"Mom!! You're drunk! I'll bring you to your room..."

She stopped my actions on wrapping her arm around my back for me to guide her easily and blurted out unmatching sentences.

"Oh.. my baby Ae Yeun... One day, you'll leave me- marry- children- and- old- ...."

I politely shushed her and just repeatedly saying, "Okay, mom.. Okay.. Okay.."

I successfully dragged her to her room and she fell asleep right after she reached onto her bed.

Suddenly, my phone rang and I answered the call without looking at the screen.

"Ae Yeun-ah.. It's me. I'm sorry for what I almost did yesterday, I didn't think straight.. Please forgive me for that.. Also, I left early because I had business to attend to. I hope you are not mad and sick or... anything?"

"It's fine, no sorries are needed~ Pssh~ Nope, I'm not sick at all, huhu~ And why did you call me at this time? It's past- midnight.."

"Oops.. I-It's past midnight already? Did I disturb your sleep? I am soo sorry..."

I then asked, "Haha! It's okay, I'm not asleep yet by the way... So- you're just calling me to say sorry?"

"U-Um... y-yeah... I-I guess", he stuttered.

I just remembered I forgot to say thank you to him for helping me the other day.

"B-Before you hang up, I've always wanted to say thank you for everything you've done for me... I owe you a lot so I'm asking... what can I do to pay you back?"

I heard a slight chuckle from him, "I don't know... but I just want to hang out with you sometime? Haha! U-um... I gotta go now... Really.. Good night! Love ya!"

Beep. Beep. Beep.

It was exactly after a minute and three seconds of silence after the call that caused a complete snap in my brain cells and found myself squealing for quite a while.

I then heard a groan, "H-hey... I'm trying to sleep..."

I totally have forgotten that I was still in my mother's room that I apologized in whispers as I tiptoed out. I went downstairs as the last two words kept on playing in my brain.

I felt my whole face getting warm as I fanned myself with my hand. I tried to shove it off from my head by having a midnight snack to fill up my poor starving belly yet my heart was still beating so crazily fast.
