Standing in a circle with Kol and Davina, a cauldron sat in front of us as we began chanting in time wit one another. A doll was in the middle and we all picked it up, dipping it into the cauldron as our chanting grew louder. I'd done many strong protection charms but this one felt different. There was no sudden rush which told me that everything was ok and the spell went right. When I placed the doll down, I was hesitant to open my eyes.
"Is that enough?" Davina interrogated immediately, anxious for her friends life to remain intact.
"I-it should be but something doesn't feel right," I grabbed the piece of parchment that was behind me and took the lump of graphite, adding more scribbles to the spell. "What's wrong with it?" I stressed. Only my magic could make me feel this stressed.
Kol smirked from the opposite side of the circle. "I might know a way to distract you from your troubled mind." I shook my head and looked at the floor to stop Kol knowing that I was smiling but something told me that he would know anyway. He knew me better than anyone else on the planet.
Marcel stormed in, obviously unamused by the commentary. "You can take this seriously or I can lock you in a coffin like your brother Finn, if you prefer."
Kol rolled his eyes. "No, I'd prefer you to bugger off. This spell needs time to cook, in peace."
"Cami doesn't have time," Marcel emphasised. "Esther can jump anyone into her body right now."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, but she's not going to jump anybody. She's going to jump Rebekah, who just happens to be miles away. But, fair dues, Marcel, I think I'd be a bit testy, too, if my old ex was about to jump into my new ex. I think that would be a bit, uh..." Kol started, Reina raising her eyebrows as she knew that there was a very high chance of Kol referring to her as the old ex.
The blonde girl, Camille, joined them. "Awkward?" She offered for an answer.
"I was going to say kinky but," Kol shrugged.
Marcel tried to vamp speed towards him, reaching his hands out to grab his collar but I quickly stood in front of Kol and pushed Marcel back until he landed at my feet, which adorned the cutest heeled ankle boots I had ever worn. Davina looked surprised that I did something for Kol but I shook it off as I looked down at the much younger vampire.
"Here I was thinking that we were all going to work together nicely like old friends would, " I said. Marcel rose to his feet and tried to dive forward but I spread my arms between the two to keep them separated. They knew they couldn't beat me to try and get to each other: it would be suicide.
"Well, it seems like you two are friendly but I guess old habits die hard," Marcel spat.
"Oh please, my habit of running to Kol whenever something went bump in the night died nine hundred years ago when he left me," I rolled my eyes. "Now shut up so we can do our witchy woo and save you little human."
