Chapter 6

Hi again,

Well, I guess I'll just get right along with my story,

After he opened up to me, Cameron and I slowly walked back to Jenna's house. And I mean slowly. We even held hands the entire time. We held hands from the time I grabbed his hand while he had been telling me about his parents, until we walked into Jenna's house.

When we walked in the house, Jenna and Victoria were cuddled up on the couch watching tv. I'm not sure why, but I expected Cameron to let go of my hand. He didn't, by the way. He held my hand the entire time we sat on the couch watching whatever show Jenna had on. I couldn't tell you what it was because I wasn't paying attention to it. I was memorizing the feel of his hand against mine. His hands were rough, yet soft, and seemed to fit in mine perfectly.

I don't even know how long we sat there like that, honestly, I could have stayed there for the rest of my life. Sitting there with him, nothing else seemed to matter. I didn't think about school and the papers I needed to look at. I didn't think about my ex husband, for the first time in a while, which felt amazing. I wasn't depressed about my life, I was actually excited about my life, for the first time since my ex husband left.

"Hey, um, I've gotta go..." Cameron whispered in my ear as he looked at his phone.

"Oh. Why?" I asked, trying my best not to sound sad.

"Because it's 4:30 and I have practice at 5:00." He informed me.

"On a Saturday?" I almost exclaimed.

"Yes." He chuckled slightly before adding, "coach wants us completely ready for the first game next Friday. You're gonna come right?" He asked with a pleading look.

"I think I'll have papers to grade..." I told him, with a smirk slowing appearing on my lips.

"That's too bad. The pants I have to wear are awfully tight." He joked, making sure to give me a wink before standing up.

"Hey, Jenn, I gotta go. You gonna drop Vic off at home tomorrow?" He asked, giving his full attention to the couple across the room.

"Of course. Don't I always?" She laughed. "Bye, Cam, see you later." She added and gave a small wave, as did his sister, who was too engrossed in the show to fully communicate. "You leaving too?" Jenna asked me, noticing I was standing too.

"Yeah. I need to start planning for next weeks lessons." I semi-lied. I just didn't want to be a third wheel.

"Shit, me too." Jenna laughed as she frowned.

"I'll talk to you later." I told her as I turned to leave. Not getting a response from her since she was once again engrossed in the show, like Victoria.

"Walk you out?" Cameron asked as he offered me his arm like a gentleman.

"Sure." I giggled like a little girl, wrapping my arm around his, letting him lead me outside.

"So, um, here." He said shyly, sticking his hand out as we reached my car. It was a cell phone.

"I already have a phone, Cameron." I said curiously.

"I know. But this one is different. Jenna, Vic, and I all have special phones to talk to each other. Just so Jenna doesn't get in trouble. And now you have one too, so you can talk to me...I-I mean if y-you want to." He stuttered the last part turning away.

"Of course I do!" I exclaimed, probably a little too enthusiastically. Or maybe it wasn't, because his face lit up like a little kid's.

"Be careful driving home, Rebecca." He smiled sweetly. The way he said my name..oh my. If I hadn't already been sitting down in my car, my knees would have given away.
