Chapter 2

I can still remember the first day I saw Cameron. I had heard about him but I had never actually seen or met him. That is until the first day of his senior year. I was standing across the hall from my room talking to my best friend, Jenna Bradley, one of the eleventh grade English teachers. It was just after lunch, everyone hurrying to their next class. Jenna and I were talking about the students we had and I was asking about the students she had last year. Just to know what I could expect.

She was the one who saw him first. I had my back to him as he approached, and she spoke:

"We'll if it isn't Mr. Johnson. How's you're day going so far, Cam?"

"Hey, Jenna. It's pretty good. How about yours? How are those immature juniors?" He asked in a playful tone.

I, on the other hand, stood there completely dumbfounded. We're they really on a first name basis? Yes they were.

"I told you to call me 'Ms. Bradley' in school, Cameron." Jenna said in a very stern voice.

"Sorry. I guess I forgot." He explained as he rubbed the back of his neck and put his head down.

"It's quite alright, Cameron." She spoke softly again, and gave him a small smile, before looking at me and smiling even wider, "oh, yes, Cameron, this is Ms. Reed. She's your English teacher this year. And one of my good friends."

"Hi." He said as he met my eyes for no longer than a second and looked back at Jenna. "Is she a better teacher than you?" He asked playfully smiling widely.

"I think she could teach you a thing or two." She said smirking as they shared a private look. "You better get to class, Cam. The bells about to ring." Jenna ordered all of a sudden serious again.

After he had turned around I quickly began questioning Jenna.

"What was that?" I asked raising my eyebrows nearly touching them to my hairline.

"What was what?" She quizzed playing innocent.

"I thought, you were into girls, Jenna." I said sternly. "Why are you flirting with a student?"

"Flirting? Oh my, you are so wrong. Yes I am into girls. Cameron is just..it's complicated, okay?" She finished awkwardly.

Luckily for her the bell rang signaling me to my class before I could interrogate her further.

I walked into my classroom ready to greet my new students when my eyes fell on him. Sitting at the back of the room, in the desk farthest from mine. He had his head propped up against the wall with his eyes closed, then all of a sudden he opened his eyes and looked directly at me. He caught me staring at him. I quickly looked away, but not before I saw a wicked smile creep onto his face. It almost made me feel...scared.

"Good after noon class," I began, "My name is Ms. Reed, welcome to twelfth grade English."

The rest of class was extremely boring. I had given the students a worksheet to fill out, just so I could get to know them a little better. They were mostly talking amongst themselves, while I sat at my desk reading some of the other sheets from my earlier classes. Every once in a while I would look up and see Cameron staring at me. He wouldn't break his stare even when I would look at him. He would simply smile his wicked, yet extremely charming smile.

Earlier I mentioned that I had heard of Cameron, Jenna and I had talked about him recently. She informed me he was an exceptional writer and I would enjoy his work. Ever since we had that conversation I couldn't wait to get him into class, because of his writing. Now I was practically drooling over this boy.
