Bria was up before Bryce was. She sat on her bed for a while trying figure out why she let him sleep with her. She then realized how his inappropriate jokes were funny, but unnecessary. She felt something. She couldn't understand what the feeling was him or just first day of college jitters.
Once Bryce awoke, he went into the living room to find Bria standing on the sofa. She was changing the light bulb. "Good morning. Still can't stand me?" he said to her smiling.
"Just as much as yesterday, "Bria said annoyed with a fake smile.
As Bryce helped Bria off the sofa, he put his hands around her waist. She rested her hands on his shoulder. He lifted her as she jumped off. They looked into each other's eyes for a few seconds and moved in closer, but Bryce's bedroom's door opened. They scattered away from each other. A boy with dark brown hair and brown eyes came out of the bedroom. He was tall, too.Bria just stared at him. He noticed her and smiled crookedly. "Hi, I'm Roger, "he says to her, still staring into her eyes.
"This is Bria, the girl who can't stand me. Even when I'm not doing anything wrong!" Bryce replies throwing his hand in the air. He didn't see the sparks fly between Bria and Roger as he continued to talk about why Bria doesn't him. Roger cut Bryce off in the middle of his rant.
Roger looks at Bria and said to Bryce, "How did you meet?"
Bryce thought, then said, "Well, it was registration day. She confronts me by calling me, what was it, a fool out of nowhere." He looked at Bria with a knowing look.
Just like Bryce predicted, Bria corrected him and said, "Actually, yes it was registration day, but it wasn't out of nowhere. My best friend went up to her and said her name. His response was, "I'm not interested in some puffy, short brat! Then I looked him in the eyes and called him a pathetic, sickening fool." Bria emphasized on "pathetic" and "sickening" to make sure both Roger and Bryce understood the full story.
"Honesty is the best policy, "Roger said with his hand sticking out wanting Bria to shake it.
Bria shook his hand and smiled. She said, "Well, it was nice to meet you but if you will excuse me, I have a class to get to. Can't be late on the first day."
She was off in a hurry. Bryce and Roger sat on the sofa. "She's wonderful, isn't she? Or at least mysterious, right?" Bryce asked staring at the door.
"You're really into her aren't you? I mean, from what I've seen, she's great, but doesn't like you, " Roger said.
Bryce looked at him and said, "There's no way I'm into Bria. She's nice and all but she's... I don't know! I wouldn't care even if you asked her out," Bryce almost laughed, knowing it wouldn't happen.
Roger laughed and said, "I might just do that. Ask her out I mean."
"What?"
"You said you didn't care."
"I didn't think you'd do it!"
"Is that a problem?"
"No,"Bryce said, nervously.
"Then I'm going to ask her out," Roger finalized.
