Suho hissed when I pressed a little too strongly on his wound. Since he wasn't healing anymore, and the blood kept flowing down his cheek, I decided to treat it the usual, old way of us humans. I dabbed a cotton filled with a bluish liquid that is good for wounds on his cheek (I was never good with medical terms), and Suho didn't stop hissing and glaring at me for the immense pain he was feeling.Sehun was sitting beside me and watching with wide, amazed eyes, and I felt like rolling my eyes every time he would express his amazement with a loud wow. Suho tried to pull his head away from my grip, but I wrapped my arm around his neck and pulled him closer. We both blinked at the sudden proximity, and I felt my cheeks redden, but even then I didn't let him go. I could literally feel his eyes boring holes through my own, but I pretended I didn't see him and continued fixing his wound.
"Why would he do that?" Xiumin, who was sitting on my bed, asked with a worried tone, and I could see Suho's eyes wander to him for a minute before looking back at me. "He wanted me to do things I didn't want to do, and he thought it would be good to punish me,"
"By fucking up your card?" Baekhyun cursed, and I could detect the obvious venom echoing out of his tone. I was surprised, that Baekhyun was able to curse, voicing out such vulgar words. When I peeked at him, I found his fist tightening on top of his thigh. He caught me staring at him, and I sent him a small smile, hoping that it would come out as comforting as I wanted it to be. He looked away from me, and I thought I saw his fist tighten even more. I looked back at Suho's wound, and I couldn't help but frown. The bleeding hasn't stopping at all, even though it was starting to lessen. The gash started from the corner of his left eye all the way to his lips, stopping there. It was ugly, and bloody, but Suho was still beautiful.
"I don't understand," I finally spoke after a long period of staying silent. The boys all looked at me in the same time, and I became self-conscious all of a sudden by their burning stares. I shook the stupid feeling away, and concentrated back on Suho's still dripping opened wound. "Why isn't he healing? Because he had hurt his card? I don't get it,"
"Well, Hani," Sehun started speaking almost immediately, and I snapped my eyes towards him momentarily. "We can never be hurt if you hurt us physically, since we heal quickly and the pain vanishes as it never happened. The only way to leave a permanent scar is by doing it to our cards, since our souls are practically emitted from them,"
"But Suho's wounds are worse than usual wounds. He is still bleeding and this is the third time I changed the towel," it was clear in my voice that I'm starting to panic, and the fourth towel I had brought to wipe Suho's blood away was already getting soaked. Suho's eyes were on me the entire time, and I couldn't understand the way he was looking at me. He was so calm, so stable that I'm starting to grow alarmed. He was almost acting like a robot, like this is a normal part of his life cycle, to be severely wounded like this, without healing at all. I gave him a scolding look, because he shouldn't be this calm, he shouldn't be this composed when he's losing so much blood. He only stared at me, completely ignoring my look.
"Our main weakness is our cards, which is why Wielders tend to hide them away through battles or even when they're asleep. When we get hurt through our cards, the wounds appear on us, and they don't heal fast, like normal humans, but even worse," Xiumin explained this time, his tone pained and strained, like this is a conversation he doesn't really want to be a part of at all. I sent him a smile, hoping that it would ease his troubled heart. He sent me a similar one, softer, and much more tender than what I was used to from him. I couldn't help but feel my heart fall down loudly at his gesture and then soar up in one single thump.
"When is he gonna start healing?"
"I think, looking at the shape of his wound, three to four weeks? And it would leave a permanent scar," Baekhyun muttered softly, and suddenly, he was sitting next to me on his knees, squinting his eyes and examining Suho's wounds closely. I copied him, trying to see what he's exactly seeing for him to be able to calculate such a period. I admit, he had always been smart to me, but I couldn't help but want to see what he's seeing in a simple wound. Baekhyun looked away to stare at me with a ridiculed look, and I grinned back at him. I swore, there was amusement swimming in his orbs. He then arose from his position and went back to his usual spot on the couch.
