3 months later

Kurt wiped yet another slushy from his eyes and made his way to the girls' bathroom to wash himself off and change. Normally he wouldn't care about what happened but he was already having a bad day with a bad headache that felt like his head was splitting in half and he could feel himself coming down with something so this slushy didn't really help. He coughed as he washed himself off of the sticky sugary substance and when he looked up, Karofsky was behind him. Kurt stopped moving all together when he noticed a look in his eyes, the look of fear.

"Did you tell?" Karofsky said and Kurt shook his head. "Don't lie to me. You did, didn't you?" Kurt shook his head again and turned to face Karofsky but he suddenly found his head being smashed against the glass, breaking it and cutting his head. He hissed in pain and winced at the feeling. "DON'T LIE TO ME!!" Karofsky ripped Kurt away from the mirror and pushed him hard against the wall, holding Kurt up by two meaty hands and his thumbs pressing hard against Kurt's throat. "I....didn't....ttt..telll..." Kurt tried to kick as hard as he could and launched his fist back and pushed it forward, punching Karofsky hard enough to get him off of him before running out of the bathroom fast. He ran through the now empty halls, looking for somewhere to hide. The pain in his head and the blood that travelled down his face didn't help his case and seemed to slow him down until he saw red and felt hands around his throat again. He didn't know what was said into his ear but he found his world around him going darker and darker as his breath got shorter and shorter until he passed out and got thrown down the stairs. Karofsky left quickly.

An hour and half later, classes were let out and Finn was just about to head to Spanish when a loud scream reached his ears from the stairs. He ran over to see what everyone else was joking or laughing about and dropped his bag. "KURT?!" Finn ran down the stairs, jumping down from the last two and what he saw nearly made him vomit. Kurt's head was bleeding a lot enough to make a small pool, his left leg was twisted the wrong way and there was heavy fingerprinted bruises on his neck. Finn turned to yell for someone to call 911 and saw Quinn already doing it. Coach Beiste jumped into action and made everyone go to their classes and threatened to have anyone expelled if they took pictures and shared them in a rude manner. No one wanted to cross Principal Sue's words and left quickly. Quinn ran down with Coach Beiste to Finn who was trying to hold the tears back as he looked at his brother. Coach Beiste gently took Kurt's wrist and found a pulse, nodding at Quinn when she asked and answered the paramedic who said they'd be on their way. Coach Beiste kept a steady hand on Finn's shoulder. "I'm so sorry Kurt, God I'm so so sorry." Finn sobbed as he kept his hand Kurt's limp, bloody one. The paramedics came and Finn had to gently lift Kurt up to bring him upstairs, careful to not jostle him. Blood soaked his sleeves and chest but he didn't care as he placed Kurt on the pristine, white sheets. He looked back at Quinn. "I got the club, just go. I'll catch up." Finn nodded his thanks and followed. He called Burt on the way and had Burt call his mom while Finn rode with Kurt. When they reached the hospital, Finn had to sit and wait while they rolled Kurt back to ER. Once Finn sat down, he realized how much of Kurt's blood he was covered in and squeezed his eyes shut, tears slipping down his cheeks fast as he held his arms in front of him. His palms covered in the dried blood and up. That was how Carole, Burt and Quinn found Finn. Burt paled at the sight of the blood as did Quinn but Carole ran over to hug her son, letting him know she was there as she helped him stand and led him to a bathroom. Burt and Quinn sat down.

When Carole came back with Finn, he was dressed in a gift shop shirt but he still looked traumatized. Sue and Coach Beiste had joined the group, looking somber and quiet. Burt stood up and Carole had to help Finn walk over to Burt before Finn fell into the man's arms. Burt held onto him until a nurse came towards them. "Kurt Hummel?" "Yes. Burt Hummel." Burt held out his hand and the nurse smiled, shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you Congressman. Sorry about your son. We hope he makes a speedy recovery. Now, about Kurt, I was told by a Mr. Finn Hudson that he found Kurt at the bottom of a staircase bloody with a broken leg and a bruised neck as if strangled. We quickly took Mr. Hummel back to ER and then to OR as he was losing a large amount of blood. We also had to remove about seven glass shards from the left side of his head and just stitched it up. His skull or his brain was still intact. He had a few cracked ribs along with bruises from the stairs as they seem to follow one after another and we had to reset his leg and put it in a cast so I would say that in a month or so, it should be healed and he can come in for physical therapy." Burt nodded his head, listening but underneath, he was ready to raise hell. "Now for the neck. There was a lot of pressure placed on his vocal chords so I don't suggest he talk until the swelling goes down. He needs to eat soft foods until further notice and no coffee for a month. He's awake now by the way if you want to see him. He's actually been asking for you."

"Thank you Nurse Nancy. We'll be back there." She nods. "Room 503 on floor 4." She then left and Finn didn't say a word as he held his head. Quinn looked sick as well but she didn't stop rubbing Finn's back. Kurt was her friend and she cared for him when the others minus Brittany and Santana didn't listen to him. But even she knew that Finn and Kurt's relationship ran deeper than her and Kurt's. They were brothers. Family. "He's going to be okay. He's alive, that's what matters most right now. Not those injuries. In time, they'll fade to nothing but memories or maybe not even that. Be glad that he's alive." She whispered to Finn, hugging his shoulders. Finn nodded and let Quinn help him up while the others started to walk towards the elevator. They walked to the room and Carole had to squeeze Burt's hand while Quinn held Finn's as the four people walked into the room and barely held back their gasps. Kurt was lying in bed with a bandage around his head, a bandage around his neck and an obvious black cast around his left leg. When he saw his dad, he raised his arms and seemed to mouth 'daddy' before Burt ran over and held his son to his chest carefully. Kurt held onto him back and let his tears fall as he held on.

Kurt was scared.
