Blaine had came the next day and the next day and the next day and everyday to see Kurt. Everyday, the boy was happier than a clam and let out these breathy laughs whenever Blaine told him stories about the Warblers' crazy antics. The sight made Burt and Carole smile and Finn, Quinn, Mike and Artie ease up on him when they saw how happy Blaine made Kurt. What cemented it was at Kurt's physical therapy. Finn and the others walked in Kurt standing between the bars and in front of him was Blaine wearing a scarf, a scarf that Finn could see Kurt wanted to get off of Blaine, his eyes screaming fashion chaos. He took his normal steps but what was crazy was that he wasn't HOLDING onto the bars. His hands were stretched out and every time he took a step forward, Blaine took two steps back. Doctor McKinnon could barely keep up until she stopped not because she ran out of tassels but because Kurt had took a huge step and had his hands around Blaine's hideous scarf. He glared at Blaine, wondering why he was smiling when he turned his head and looked in the mirror to see that Kurt was well away from the bars and had his legs stretched out as if they were never stiff. He gaped and slowly turned his head back to see Quinn, Finn, Mike and Artie looked shell shocked with their hands over their mouths. "I told you that you could take a big step." Blaine said and Kurt turned to him, eyes shining with tears. With his hair over his forehead and his small body drowning in a loose shirt and sweatpants, he looked so small and innocent. Blaine smiled as he teared up and wrapped a gentle arm around Kurt's waist. Kurt held onto Blaine's shirt and placed his head on his shoulder. The others surrounded the couple and for once, Kurt felt truly safe and happy.
He let Blaine carry him back to his wheelchair where he accepted hugs and high fives. He could walk but he still couldn't talk yet. Even if he couldn't talk, as long as he got to dance and walk again, he didn't mind waiting. The others were walking ahead while Blaine walked next to Kurt who was rolling himself along. Blaine was telling him about Dalton and how sometimes they do crazy pranks that would leave the others laughing for days. They had put Blaine in a deep sleep long enough to turn him into the guy from Beastly after he changed. Blaine was mortified and refused to leave his room, making the situation worse. Kurt tried to hide his laughter but he couldn't resist and wiped tears from his cheeks. "It's not funny Kurt. I looked hideous and it was winter." Kurt seemed to breathily laugh harder that he was holding his stomach. A few squeaks left his mouth before a small real sound of laughter escaped his throat in a tiny bubble. The others stopped short of his room as Kurt laughed like tiny snowbells as he imagined a bald Blaine with face markings. He didn't even notice everyone was looking at him until he looked at them. 'What?' He signed and Finn said with a smile. "You just laughed. Like you used to when we'd watch a comedy together." Kurt furrowed his eyebrows and looked at Blaine who nodded. That made Kurt blush before he rolled to his room. He was kinda hungry and it seemed that Carole read his mind because she had brought some food she cooked. Finn moved to pick him up but Kurt shook his head. 'Help me stand. I want to hug her.' Finn understood and while Carole's back was turned and Quinn kept it turned, Finn offered his arm to hold onto along with Blaine using his arm and Kurt wobbled only for a few seconds before standing straight and Quinn smiled over her shoulder. Kurt slowly made his way over to Carole, careful to stay quiet before he let go of Finn and Blaine's arms and walked the last few steps by himself until he reached Carole and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. He heard her gasp and watched her look over her shoulder before breaking into tears. He smiled at her and kissed her cheek in thanks. She hugged him close with one arm and kissed his hair. "Oh sweetheart. This is the highlight of my day now. Wait till your father sees-" Carole said before Burt cut her off. "See what? Has anyone seen Kurt? I found three other boys here to see him." Burt walked into his room and what he saw made him stop breathing all together.
Kurt turned with Carole and Kurt let go of her before he looked at his feet start to move forward and when he looked up at his father, he was instantly pulled into a hug that had him off the ground as Burt laughed. "You can walk! My baby boy can walk!!" Kurt laughed and wrapped his arms around his father's neck, smiling. Burt released a few tears when he heard that laugh that he missed so much. Kurt nuzzled his father's shoulder and closed his eyes.
3 days later
Kurt and Blaine were watching Gossip Girl while Finn, Burt, Carole, Wes, Nick and Jeff were in the cafeteria talking about Dalton. It was clear that Kurt wouldn't be returning to McKinley ever. Burt was not going to let his son get a repeat of what happened nor was he going to let him rejoin a group that turned poisonous. "There's a bunch of scholarships he could sign up for but the one that would cover everything so you don't have to worry about costs is the Warbler one. Finn showed us a few old videos of Kurt's performances and we already want him in the Warblers. It would cover the costs of board, uniforms, books and food. There is secured gates, our Dean is pretty sympathetic with any case like Kurt's or deeper. Our nurse is heavily trained so should something happen to Kurt, god forbid, she'd be able to help him." Wes said. "What if I wanted to visit?" Finn asked and Jeff took that one over since his siblings loved to come see him sometimes. "You'd be given passes with your picture and names to keep should you want to visit or if Kurt calls for you. It helps security keep anyone dangerous out." Burt finished swallowing his bite of his sandwich and pointed. "That..now that is something that I like to hear." Nick smiled. "Kurt would be perfectly safe and we'd be more than happy to help him catch up with everything that he's missed lately. Oh and since he's an emergency mid transfer, they would give him a single room with his own bathroom in Canary Hall..."
Back in the hospital room Kurt and Blaine were now watching some YouTube videos when Kurt tapped Blaine's hand. Blaine looked at him and Kurt signed 'Wanna know a secret?' and Blaine raised an eyebrow, intrigued. Kurt paused the video and typed Alyson Stoner in the search box. "I know her. She's the really amazing dancer right?" Kurt nodded and played one of her videos. Blaine watched when he squinted, moving the laptop closer. 'Hitting you yet?' Blaine was about to answer when Kurt's door swung open to reveal a short girl with chestnut hair like Kurt's, brown eyes instead of blue and the same pale complexion. She seemed out of breath and had a duffel bag on her arm. Blaine gaped and dropped his jaw, following as the girl came closer and hugged Kurt. "I swear I tried to come when I first found out but I couldn't get away. Are you okay? Of course you're not okay. You can't speak or walk." The girl smacked her head and Kurt stopped her hand before signing that he had actually had gotten better at walking and walked on his own for the first time today. Alyson squealed as she hugged her brother again.
"Oh KK...I'm so happy for you. Soon you'll be on your way to being able to dance again." Kurt gave her a smile when a tiny gasp escaped from Blaine's still open mouth. Alyson looked at Kurt and Kurt sighed, rolling his eyes since it was evident that Blaine wasn't going to speak. Back To Church was still playing. 'Alyson, this is Blaine. Blaine, if you can catch this, this is my sister Alyson Rae Hummel but you know her as Alyson Stoner.' Kurt then hit Blaine in the ribs with his elbow and Blaine coughed, swallowing a few times before blinking. "You-you're Alyson Stoner- I-I mean Alyson...um..uh.." Blaine began to blank and Alyson giggled, holding out her hand. "Hummel. Alyson Hummel. You must be the Blaine Anderson of the Dalton Academy Warblers and the one who made my little brother happy again?" Blaine blushed. "I think he made me happy again. I didn't think I'd see him again." "Well it's good to finally put a face to the name or rather the signing of your name. From what I got from it, you sing and play guitar."
Blaine nodded. "It's not really much." Kurt rolled his eyes and signed to Alyson only. 'Ever the modest one.' The three caught up when the others finally came back and Alyson squealed when she saw Burt. "Daddy!" She ran over and Burt laughed as he caught her, holding her tight. "Well if it isn't my Aly. I've missed you so much." Alyson smiled. "I missed you too." He let her down so she could hug Carole and Finn before gasping to see Mike who waved. The two faced each other before highfiving and pulling each other in a tango position going left and right before hugging. "Fast Feet Mikey." Alyson said. "Smooth Stone Aly." Artie got introduced and Kurt laid back against his pillow, watching the scene with sleepy eyes. It didn't take long before everyone blurred before him and slowly, Kurt's head began to slip to the side before resting on the pillow and he was out cold.
When he awoke again, it was because Nurse Nancy was running on 2 cups of coffee and was still tired. Her foot had bumped Kurt's bed and shifted it a little. Kurt lifted his head but found himself unable to move. Nancy looked at him apologetically. "I'm sorry dear. It's alright. You can sleep. You've become quite the couple." Kurt frowned before craning his neck to look down and saw Blaine was cuddling him gently. He noticed the tear tracks and frowned before noting to ask about that later before he fell back to sleep.
