And now our story begins
Kurt Hummel had come a long way from the past events. He still didn't speak yet, he could but he just didn't know if he wanted to yet. He was concerned that his voice had been ruined forever and though he couldn't sing with the Warblers, he did help with the choreography and would just lip sync and sway. He remembered the talk Finn gave him.
Kurt and Finn were washing dishes with Kurt washing and Finn drying and stacking. The silence had gone on long enough before Finn put down his plate and looked at Kurt. "How come you won't try?" Kurt knew exactly what Finn was asking and put down his plate to turn to him, signing. 'I'm scared that I won't sound the same as I used to.' Finn scoffed. "Dude, I doubt that your voice is going to change that much. But you won't know if you don't try."
Kurt wanted to try but he couldn't buck up the courage to open his mouth and speak until the night of the Warblers Speed Race. The look on the rest of the boys' faces when Kurt drove up in his Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R roaring by. They just thought he was driving it up for someone and when he got out, Thad asked. "Hey Kurt?" Kurt turned, shutting the door and walked over to Thad. "Hey, who's car is that?" Thad nodded to the Nissan, Jack, Beatz, Ben and Jay were eyeing the car like it was a female. Kurt smirked at the car before turning to Thad signing 'it's mine. Well first it was my mother's but she then left it to me so it's mine.' Thad looked at Kurt in amazement, eye twitching. "You just got one thousand times cooler Hummel." Jack said and Kurt winked. 'You haven't even seen me race...' "This is true. He could be an awesome racer. Better than Blaine or you Thad." Jay said and Thad scoffed playfully, not noticing Kurt slip away towards Blaine who was sitting on his black Dodge Camaro in a fitted black V neck T shirt and blue jeans with slits in them. Kurt had to think of dead puppies and blood on his favorite Marc Jacobs shirt to keep from sprouting a boner for his boyfriend who was WEARING BLACK MARC JACOBS SNEAKERS?! Kurt tripped over his feet and felt Blaine help him up. Seeing the shoes up close made Kurt want to faint at their existence because on him, they looked strange but on Blaine, they made him want to do bad things to his boyfriend. Speaking of his boyfriend, Blaine was talking to him about something.
"...you okay? Are your legs hurting you? Maybe you shouldn't have driven here. You don't have to race if you can't handle it. Kurt? Kurt?" Kurt gathered strength to stand straight. He was cleared to walk on his own as long as he did his exercises every morning with Blaine's help. He was cleared to drive as well and dance which made Kurt very happy because that was his goal for so long. He put two hands to, palms open, so Blaine could stop rambling and began to sign. 'I'm fine. I just tripped over my feet which is normal. Are you wearing the Marc Jacobs sneakers?' Blaine sighed in relief before nodding. "My mom got them for me as a gift. Won them for me in an auction. She wanted me to tell you that she won a scarf for you too since I told her that you a) love Marc Jacobs and b) scarves. Kurt's eyes widened at that and if Blaine's arm wasn't around him, he would've dropped to the ground. Blaine chuckled and held Kurt up. "I bet I'll beat you this time. I've been practicing." Blaine said smugly and Kurt rolled his eyes for the second time that night. 'Oh please. You're just gonna think you've got it, pull and burn out.' "Am not! You tricked me." 'No. My car tricked you. I, however, did not.' Kurt pecked Blaine's cheek and walked back to his car. The racers were told to get in their cars and Kurt got in his Nissan, making it roar to life. Other car roars happened and Kurt turned to look at Blaine, blowing him a kiss and accepting the one Blaine blew back. Alyson came out and Kurt waved, smiling. Alyson waved back and winked. She knew that her brother was quite the speed racer so he'd fit in with the Warblers even more if he blew them away. No more holding back after tonight.
"Racers! Are you ready?!" Alyson screamed and the roars of engines responded. She turned to the crowd. "Onlookers! Are we ready for a race?!" The crowd went crazy and Alyson smirked, turning back to the cars as she raised her hands. Kurt paid attention for the signal. "Ready..." Blaine put his hand on the gear. "Set..." Engines revved. "GO!" Alyson waved her hands down and the cars sped by her as the crowd went crazy. The cars weaved and made sharp lefts and hard rights. Thad still believed that he was better, Jeff kept testing his car's limits and speeds, Blaine was still trying to get ahead and almost made it when Kurt shot from behind all three cars and took the lead, his engine roaring loud and victorious. Blaine gaped and looked behind him to try and see how Kurt was all the way behind and was now gone from in front of him. Jeff followed, leaving Thad and Blaine still speechless before the two hit their shifts and sped up. Kurt smirked and made the sharp drift around the roundabout twice, amazing the three boys as they tried the same but only made it once. Alyson and the others were watching on the screens and Alyson was cheering for her younger brother. Artie, Mike, Quinn and Finn was next to her cheering him on. "He is amazing!" Mike said as he didn't blink once as Kurt made another drift but this time it was to try and make his car invisible to a camera. "That move is nearly impossible to make. A camera is bound to catch a piece of the car. If Kurt makes this, he'd be one of the top people to do it." Artie said and Kurt watched as Jeff tried to drift in a circle to avoid the camera but the camera caught his tail light. Next was Blaine who was happy to get ahead of Kurt but the camera caught his wheel. Kurt sped through the tunnels fast ahead of Thad and began the drift while in the shadows, flicking his lights off and quieting the engine to a hum as he pushed the car in a circle, once, twice and a third time.
