Forest - afternoon - after winter solstice

Percy

I was at the forest, walking around. My mom. and I would always come here to walk. But now she's gone. I'm too young to lose my mom. One day she just didn't move again. She was just gone.

***FLASHBACK***

I had just left my room to sniff the smell of my mom's blue chocolate chip cookies. I raced to the kitchen to see if there were really cookies or I was just imagining.

"Mommy Mommy! Are you making cookies again!!" I say jumping for joy.

My mom turned to look at me and smiled. "Yes Percy, i'm making your favorite blue chocolate chip cookies just for you! Why don't you got wait at the table? It'll be done soon!"

I did a huge grin then climbed onto the chair at the table.

My mom took the cookies out of the oven and put some on a plate to bring them over to me. Once she set the cookies down, I was going to grab a bunch of cookies and shove them in my mouth when she said something.

"Percy, Don't try to grab them all at once and eat them quickly! You'll burn yourself."

"Okay mommy." I replied, taking one cookie at a time, sneaking some in my jacket pocket.

When his mother, Sally Jackson didn't see him take the cookies he smiled. But soon that smile disappeared into a face of panic when the glass doors to the balcony exploded, sending glass flying everywhere.

Sally quickly turned to see what had caused the glass to explode and saw a huge black-red hound with fierce glowing red eyes staring their way. It snarled at the two family members and showed it's sharp pointy teeth.

"Percy Run!" my mother screamed.

I panicked. "What about you!" I asked quickly.

"Don't worry about me." She says while grabbing the closest thing to her, which happened to be a clean frying pan. "I just want you to be safe honey." a single tear tracing down her face.

"No! I won't leave you mommy!" I cried out, desperate to help my mom.

She didn't have time to respond. The huge hound attacked and clawed my mom in the chest, leaving three parallel claw marks right next to each other.

"NO!" I yelled. I then grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed the monster without warning, no hesitations, no sorrow, no nothing. Only rage and anger.

The monster disintegrated into specks of golden dust, falling to the floor. I then raced to my mom to see if she was okay. But she wasn't. She wasn't breathing. She wasn't moving. She wasn't alive. She was gone.

***END OF FLASHBACK***

Now I wander the open world by myself. Only a few of my mom's chocolate chip cookies in my pocket to live off of for now. There wasn't much for me to do. I didn't have anything to do. I lost my mother. I never met my father. So I did the only thing possible. I cried. I didn't care if anyone was nearby. I just wanted to have my family back. To meet my father. To see my mother again. I'm too young and this shouldn't happen.

I quickly wiped my tears off my face when I heard a tree branch snap. My eyes stained red from crying and faint tear lines went down on my face.

I glanced to where I heard the sound and started walking faster deeper into the forest. Unfortunately that was a mistake for me. Just then I saw something gray.. no.. silver fly past me. I heard a thud! and looked over to where I heard the sound.

There, resting in the tree, was a silver arrow.

'Silver!' I thought. 'Mom always said Silver was hard to get. Maybe I should get it.'

I walked over to the tree and saw a few arrows stuck within the tree.

Just when I was about to grab one of the arrows, I heard a voice.

"Don't touch my arrow boy." said a scary female voice.

I stopped and looked at where I heard the voice.

I saw a lady with auburn hair. silver eyes, a silver bow in her hand, a quiver on her back full of arrows and she wore a silver outfit. Her auburn hair tied into a neat ponytail. The outfit was one that a hunter of Artemis would wear. My mom used to tell me stories about greek gods and heroes when I went to bed. She would tell me what they would look like and what they did. I heard that they traveled across the world, hunting down bad monsters so they couldn't do anything bad to innocent people. But why was she here?

I blinked in confusion.

Another girl with the same outfit, a quiver on her back and a bow in hand came up to the lady.

She started ranting in a harsh tone. "Don't you know who you're facing boy? You're talking to Lady Artemis! Stupid males!" she scowled.

Well. I learned one thing. Hunters of Artemis are mean.

"Why are you here?" I ask.

The one, I think named Artemis, at least I think it's her. They all have silver outfits! looked over at me.

"We were sent by my father Zeus to capture you and bring you to olympus Son of Kronos! You weren't suppose to be born!" she scowled. wow Harsh. I'm not suppose to be alive? Thanks Artemis.

Wait she said that she and her hunters were sent by Zeus, which I think is the king of gods, to capture me because I'm a son of who now? Well. I thought about it and did the only thing possible.

I ran from them.

From behind me I could hear Artemis yelling.

"Hunters! Follow that boy! Do not let that Son of Kronos escape!" she yelled, putting an arrow in her bow. Letting it fly towards me. I dodged it but just barely. The stories were true. She is a good archer. Only one question was stuck in my head. Why did she get sent by Zeus to capture me? A little six year old who barely knows everyone? Is it about my father? krinos? no.. Kronos.

"The chase is on Son of Kronos! You cannot escape now! We will bring you to olympus no matter what it takes! Most of the gods are searching for you as well!" Artemis yelled from behind.

For now I only knew one thing going through the hunter's head.

The chase is on.
