Long Island - Camp Half-blood
Percy ~ Age 10
I woke up to kids screaming. I groaned as I sat up in my sleeping bag, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.
I looked around to see kids soaking wet and two kids holding buckets.
Hermes kids pranking sleeping kids.. Well this is Hermes cabin after all.
Luke got up and glared at the two holding the buckets.
"Connor and Travis! What have I told you about pranking others when they're sleeping?" he said glancing at the kids who were soaking wet.
"....But I got to admit, that's pretty clever of you guys." he said with a grin. The twins, Connor and Travis smiled back. "Just don't do it again or I'll tell Chiron or Mr. D!" he threatened. The twins shivered.
Hah! I bet that old wine god wouldn't do anything to get off that lazy ass of his! Why would those Hermes' spawn be afraid of that old, lazy excuse for a god?
"--ercy!" Said a voice.
I turned to the voice, it was the same blonde the day before who kept bothering me. Gods I hate demigods.
"What?" I say, irritated.
She looked at me. "How was your first day at camp?" She asked me as we walked out of the cabin.
I stared at her.
"It was.. okay. Chiron asked me questions that I don't really understand why he asked me them..." I said.
"Oh." she said.
Oh. All she can say is Oh, and that's it?
"Well?" I asked.
She stared at me like I was crazy.
"What do you mean well?" she asked back.
"All you say is oh and then you stop talking." I say.
"Is there a problem with that?"
"Yes, Yes there is!"
"There is absolutely nothing wrong with that!"
"It's annoying! They say oh then stop! All the time!"
Annabeth sighed.
"You must of been kicked out of lots of schools, right? Because you talk a lot. You're probably an Ares kid. But your eyes aren't red." she said, pointing to my eye as if she was going to poke it out with her fingers.
"I don't know. Am I required to remember?" I say, thinking of my mother's death as I think of my childhood. Bad memories and good memories coming back, But mainly bad memories.
"No, I'm just wondering." she says, walking away from me.
"Well, children of Athena are alway wondering about things, being curious. Isn't that correct?" I yell to her.
"Well, half correct! I'll give you half credit! Now we better get to breakfast!" she yelled back, going to breakfast.
Damn! That daughter of Athena made me late to breakfast!
I quickly cursed in Ancient Greek, are we allowed to swear in camp? If not then, oops.
I ran into the food pavilion, unhappy to be late.
I saw Luke and the rest of the cabin, sitting at a table. There was one seat left, which was next to Luke. Luke saw me, smiled at me and patted the seat next to him, motioning me to sit down next to him.
I walked over to the table and sat down in the seat.
He handed me a plate of pancakes and scrambled eggs.
I was about to dig into my food when everyone stood up and went to the fire with their plates.
"C'mon Percy." Luke said, picking up his own plate.
We got to the fire and I saw people scrapping some food into the fire. Wow isn't that a waste of food?
Luke looked at me and smiled. "Every meal we scrape some food into the fire for the gods, they like the smell of it."
"They like the smell of burnt food?" I ask, confused. Luke shrugged his shoulders.
Luke walked up to the fire and scrapped some scrambled eggs i to the fire and whispered a word-- more like name. "Hermes." He mumbled. He then walked back to the table.
I walked up to the fire next and scrapped one of my pancakes into the fire. "Kronos." I mumbled quietly. Hopefully no one heard me say that because if they did they would be outraged and start calling me, well, a traitor. Which I kind of am... Yes, yes... Spying on them is probably being a traitor but I don't know! I'm not exactly that smart, but I'm not as blinded as the other demigods. Boy, if a god or goddess flashed down here he or she would be more then outraged... They would be furious! But how do they not remember me from before? How do they not recognize me from when they first tried to execute me? Do I seriously look that different from before? I mean, I still have the same messy black hair and gold eyes... I guess they are too busy enjoying themselves to bother paying attention down here in this demigod camp!
I walked back to the table after thinking for what seemed like ages but was actually a few seconds. As I walked backed to the Hermes' table I didn't realize the fire glow slightly gold.
I sat down at the table and began eating my food. Luke then decided to ask me a question.
"So what did Annabeth ask you this morning?" He asked, slightly curious to know.
"Oh. She asked me how was my first day at camp then made me late for breakfast." I replied back, shoving a spoonful of scrambled eggs into my mouth, chewing it.
"Hmm, typical Annabeth. Anything else or is that it? Because a question wouldn't take that long to answer unless you both walked in silence." He said, eating a pancake after speaking.
"Oh. She thought I was a son of Ares, isn't that ridiculous?" I said, smirking.
Luke burst out laughing and most demigods at the table looked at him funny.
"That's ridiculous, you don't have red eyes like most children of Ares!" Luke exclaimed. Wow that's what that daughter of Athena said. Guess some demigods have some knowledge
"Yeah. Yeah I don't have red eyes." I said while rolling my eyes.
"Nope, no you don't, you don't have red eyes, you have gold eyes! That means that you must be a son of..."
I slightly panic, will he know? That I am a son of Kronos sent to spy on the camp? Hopefully not!
"Apollo!" He said cheerfully.
I mentally facepalm.
"'No. Children of Apollo have sky blue eyes Luke." I said.
"Oh."
Everyone then finished eating breakfast after a few minutes. During those few minutes demigods joked around, talked, but mainly just ate food.
I finished my food and left the pavilion like everyone else, ready for my first day of training.
Or should I say..
Spying.
