I awoke with a start in the middle of the night. It was indeed very dark and there was a strange smoky scent hanging in the air. I grabbed my phone off my bedside table and looked at the time, 12:07, I really wasnt feeling like myself so I got up and started making my way downstairs for a drink of water.

As soon as my bedroom door opened it was quite evident that something was wrong. A smoky green escence was wafting through the corridor and immediatly I was thrown into a mad fit of coughs. Got to go check what's on fire.

I started towards Moira's room, because if in fact a part of the house was in flames she was in the most danger, but as I reached her door after a few paces across the corridor, I could clearly make out her silhouette in the fumes. She had wapped a damp handkerchief around her mouth and was approaching me.

"Chenin what's on fire" she held on to my arm for support.

"I have not the slightest clue"

"Well let's go check what it is then"

She started pulling me downstairs towards the living room. She really didn't need my help for navigation when we were home and she was basically hauling me downstairs. The closer we got to it the more the fumes became pungent and thick it was almost bliding by the time we reached the living
room.

But then I saw the problem, nothing was on fire. The source of the strange fumes seemed to be everything in the room the smoke simply wafted from every corner.

"Mom, Dad" I shouted at the top of my lungs.

"They aren't in the house Chen, I went to check their room as soon as I smelled the smoke I can't hear anyone else in this place but us" Moira sounded biwildered.

Then I saw something that caught my eye, in the doorway a green fire was burning and spreading at an alarming rate, it started out as a mere tongue but quickly became a raging inferno coming quickly towards them. It was a deep mesmerising emerald and for a second I stood spell-bound staring at impending doom. I could feel the searing heat as it approached.

I snapped out of the trance,"Moira we need to get the hell out of here now"

She seemed to know immediatly that the front entrance was not an option and sprinted towards the back door with me right at her heels. This night couldn't get any worse. Thoughts like this run through a person's mind when they're jumping over a sofa running from a fire ravaging their house with them still in doubt of their parents whereabouts.

We saved a lot of time with not having to open the back door as it was missing from its hinges and lying about three meters away on the grassy ground. Moira too had made it outside and was panting. But the sight in front of me was something I could never unsee and something she could never witness.

His parents and three hooded figures were engaged in a heated battle. Artemis and Julia had glowing golden katanas and luminous silver crossbows they were shooting with pinpoint presision and swinging their blades with inhuman dexternity.

But despite their effort the hooded assailants seemed unaffected. The same flames that were consuming the Hallodean Mansion were now being issued from the palms of the strangers in copious amounts and it was evident that the Hallodeans were losing.

Mom jumped and released a hammering drop kick to her opponent but he caught her foot in midair and landed it square on his chest, he staggered a few paces then regained his footing and continued his relentless attack on my parents.

But then I saw as my father got stabbed in the back by a dagger I saw as the dagger spontaeneously combusted and my father stared to holler in pain. In this moment my mother had become distracted and had looked at dad. This gave one of the men the perfect chance to hit her in the back of the head with his knee, sending her face first to the ground and incapacitated.

"MOM, DAD!" I was shouting at the top of my lungs and running towards my parents. Moira was right behind.

"RUN! RUN AS FAR FROM HERE AS YOU CAN" Dad shouted from within the tongue of flames he was now imprisoned.

I realised why he had said this, the hooded men had now turned their attention to the two children of the people they just killed. I felt a burning energy, the same I had felt when Ares's lackey had held Moira, but this time I used said energy to obey my father. Grabbed my confused sister and fled with tears flooding down my face.

"Why are we running Chen, why are we running" she was crying almost as much as I was.

I didn't answer I just had to get us to a safe place. The men were in pursuit and were moving rather quickly. I ran out the gate and hit a solid human figure. We fell and I looked up to see a tall hooded man but their was something different, something familiar about him...

The men were still in pursuit, mere meters from where we stood.

Then the man standing over us gave a fist to thin air and a red forcefield flew from his knuckes and knocked down the men.

"What the-" I was cut off

"Get up and come before they come to" a deep masculine voice came from under the hood.

"Who the hell are you, am not running with some random stranger" I shot back.

I got up and Moira who was still crying was lifted over the man's shoulder and I recieved a blow to the head and felt myself going numb being lifted up and over the man's other shoulder. The last thing I saw as the strange man started to run with me was my home, The Hallodean Mansion, fully engulfed in flames....
