~Emi POV~
"Hunny, wake up." I hear a soft voice next to me.
"Mom?" I shift on my bed to the right side to lock eyes with my mother. Her emerald green eyes sparked as she smiled at me.
"Good morning hunny, wake up." She said as she stroked my light purple hair.
"5 more minutes." I say as I shift to my left side and close my eyes.
"Okay then..."
I wake up.
I shift to my right side again. Mother is gone.
Of course she would be, she passed when I was young. So did my dad.
I slowly put myself into a sitting position and sighed, realizing what day it was.
First day of high school. Fuck.
No, I can't put myself down. I have to stay strong for Cleo.
I found Cleo 3 years ago on the streets when he was only 3 years old. He said he was attacked by a vampire, making him become one as well. That was all he remembered of his past. Knowing that leaving him out here would only put him in danger, I took him in. At first I was planning on letting him stay for a couple of days until I could find an orphanage he could stay at. But when I talked to Cleo, he started crying.
"But I like you... don't leave..." He said. I sighed.
"You know I can't take care of you..." I said.
"Please?" He said. His bright red eyes sparkled with tears. I rustled his dark brown hair and wiped away his tears from his cheeks.
"Whatever kid. Stay here if ya want." I said.
Ever since then we've been together. He was like a brother to me, even though I acted like his mother.
"Emi, I'm hungry~!" I heard Cleo's voice from the living room. Shit, he's awake.
"Coming!" I yelled as I put my slippers on and opened the door. Cleo was sitting on the couch with his arms folded.
"Don't get me late to my first day of school!" He pouted.
"Well then why don't you leave without your breakfast? Hm?" I said as I walked over to the kitchen and put a bagel in the toaster.
"But breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Plus, I don't know how to go to school on my own!" Cleo claimed.
"Well maybe you could stop complaining before I make you do so! Sound good?" I said. Ding! I took the bagel out and set it on a plate. "Here ya go bud." I set the plate on the table.
"Where are the strawberries, Emi?" Cleo asked.
"We ran out. But we have blueberries if ya don't mind?" I said.
"I'll take that I guess." Cleo said. I walked over to the fridge and took out a hand full of blueberries, rinsed them, and put it on the plate. I took a couple for my self and threw them in my mouth.
"So...aren't you going to get dressed, or not?" I asked.
"Oh no!" Cleo said as he stuffed the last of his bagel in his mouth and dashed for his bedroom. I silently laughed. That guy...
I had to get ready for my school day as well. I walked in my room. I opened my closet, which was basically only had black or purple cloths. I picked a black top with tiny pink writing on it. Then, I opened my drawer and pulled out a pair of light purple shorts. I grabbed a pair of white socks and put the outfit on. I sat down on my dresser and put my hair in braided pigtails. Once I was done, I grabbed my black cap that I put on my bed stand and put it on my head. Perfect. I grabbed my black backpack and left my room. I knocked on Cleo's door.
