Anna was sitting in one of the dining chairs in front of a mirror holding a razor. She was thinking of shaving her head because she knew that the chemo would take her hair. Her mother and father were at work. She slowly guides the razor over part of her head, watching the hair fall to the ground in the mirror.
Once she shaved all of her hair off her head, she took a selfie and sent it to Hannah. Hannah had been her support system since she found out that she has cancer, Hannah was going to also shave her head with Xavier to show Anna that she isn't in this fight alone. Hannah sends back a selfie of Xavier and her posing with a razor in Hannah's hands.
Anna chuckled and whispered to herself, "Thanks, guys." She fixed up a sand witch and decides to eat it in her room. She doesn't really eat in her room anymore because her parents are too afraid that if she gets too tired and falls asleep that she would never wake up again. She didn't care.
There were stacks of overdue homework sitting in her backpack, cancer had taken over her school life so she's been not doing her homework. The teachers keep calling the principal down and telling them what she did but they keep on telling the teachers how she is sick and shouldn't be doing that much homework because cancer had taken up her life.
Pictures of her mother and father and Anna when she was born stood on the wall. She was born in June, it was a hot day and her parents were straight out of high school. She felt bad because she didn't have a chance to even have kids. Being on chemo could hurt an unborn child.
Breaking her one other wish, growing up and starting a family, was broken before her eyes.
Anna loves to sing and draw, even if it takes up half her time when she is getting chemo it keeps her busy.
Her phone buzzed, one message from Hannah wondering if she looked good bald. Anna replied with, 'you look beautiful!!'
"Why does life have to end up like this? Just a girl who doesn't need this shit filling up her future plans."
Anna always wanted to be a singer but when she audition for a part in a talent show, she was too nervous.
She sat a video camera on her dresser and sat on the end of the bed with her guitar.
"Hey guys, I'm Anna Drew White some of you may know me from school or from the streets. The first thing I want to cover before I begin explaining why I have a guitar is that I'm bald for a reason and that reason is that I have cancer. That's why I have this oxygen tank and mask, it helps me breathe. Don't worry, I'm not going to just drop dead here. I have plenty of time before I do that." She chuckled a little bit.
"I am going to sing you guys a song I have written it because I thought it would inspire people. So I'm going to play the guitar and sing for you guys. I hope you guys like it."
Take a deep breath
Let the storm roll through your soul.
You're going to be alright, trust me now.
Just trust me.
This isn't going to take that long, the storm that kills some people. You could make it go away.
You just have to believe.
Believe
Believe in you
In your hopes in dreams
Don't give up, just trust me
Trust me
Show who you are to the storm. (Ohh let them know)
Just let them know that you are a believer.
Trust me
Trust me
"That's the whole song guys!! I really hope that you like it, I've been wanting to write my own songs for a long time, I decided it was time to show myself before it was too late."
The front door opened slowly and slammed closed, scaring Anna half to death. She runs down the stairs. "Who's there?"
"I am, don't worry I came to give you food." Xavier walked out of the kitchen, "Did my mom send you because you are not supposed to be around me."
"No, your mother didn't. I thought since you were probably lonely here so I thought I could hang out with you. Why? Are you busy?"
Anna swallowed slowly and stood there, fear rose in her body. "Get out now!!" She screamed. Xavier walked up to her and put his hand over her mouth. "I'm not going to get out. Trust me, Anna. I'm only here to drop off food. I'm going to go now. You don't need to yell at me to tell me to go."
Xavier backed away from Anna, opening the front door and closing it behind him. Once Anna knew he was gone she locked every door that he could get through too and started to edit her video. Hannah texted Anna to see if she was alright.
Hannah to Anna: Hey girly, how you doing?
Anna to Hannah: I'm fine, though I just had the scariest moment ever.
Hannah to Anna: OMG WHAT HAPPENED?
Anna to Hannah: chill on the caps, Xavier came over and acted like he was going to stay here. He knows that my father doesn't want him around me.
Hannah to Anna: alright I will, oh? I didn't know that your father didn't want him around you. Anyway, I gotta go. My boss is going to be mad at me if I don't get back to work, I'll text you later.
Anna smiled at the last text and started back on editing, the video came out good. She was very proud of what she did.

Later that night she told her father what happened between Xavier and her. Her father flipped out.
"Anna!! I told that boy to stay away, did he do anything else to you?"
"No, he didn't. He just dropped off food and left."
"Good, but I'm still mad at him!! How could he betray my trust? I told him that I trust him that he could only come hang only when I'm around. I want to make sure you kids aren't doing anything you shouldn't be doing."
Alyssa was helping Brad with dinner as Anna sat down on one of the bar stools. The doorbell rung and Anna got up to go and get it. She made sure that her oxygen tank cord wasn't tangled around anything before she kept on walking away.
When she opened the door she was shocked to see Xavier standing on the front porch. "Hi Anna, I'm sorry for earlier and that. Can I come in and have dinner with your family?"
"Who was that honey?" Brad yelled from the kitchen. "It's Xavier." She replied.
"Let him in, he's only able to be here under my supervision," Brad added before he went back to cooking.
"I guess you heard everything he said?" Anna asked, still holding the door open and staring at Xavier. "Yes I did, now if I may, can I come in."
Anna gestured to have him come in and Xavier followed Anna into the kitchen.
"Welcome, Xavier," Alyssa said wiping off some sour cream from her cheek. "Thanks, Mrs. White."
"Oh, call me Alyssa honey."
Xavier nodded and took Anna's hand and walked over to the couch. "I'm very sorry for hurting you, Anna, I didn't mean to and-"
"I know you are, your just going to be under my dad's radar for a while." Xavier leaned in and kissed Anna's cheek. "You look even more beautiful bald."
"Thanks, Xavier."
