Josh leans against Tyler's locker for what feels like an eternity. After a reality of 2 minutes Tyler turns the corner, immediately making eye contact with Josh. Tyler freezes, and from this distance even Josh can see tears forming in his eyes. Josh drops his backpack and runs up to Tyler, pulling him into a tight hug.
"I'm so sorry," Tyler whispers in Josh's ear. "I'm so, so sorry."
Josh pulls away, holding Tyler's shoulders.
"It's alright. I understand."
Tyler feels slightly insulted. His face scrunched up into a scowl.
"Wait, no. Tyler, I do understand. I have issues too. Many, believe it or not. But I'm not gonna talk about them in the middle of the hallway."
Tyler turns his head. He can hear people start walking through the main doors. Josh gently holds Tyler's cheek, turning his head back to him.
"Would you want to hang out today? We can do homework. I have Mario Cart!"
Tyler isn't sure if Josh is only saying this because of the situation, or if he really wants to hang out with Tyler, but it doesn't matter.
"Sure! You had me at Mario Cart."
As they head their separate ways, Josh smiles and feels himself blush.
Why?
He's not sure.
