We played Mario Kart and drank Red Bull. It was cool. After a while though we got kinda bored, so we went on a walk.
We walked by this river and sat by the water for a bit.
"How's life, Tyler?" Josh asked me, semi-sarcastically.
"Alright," I got bold. "Better now that I'm hanging out with you."
Josh chuckled. "Eh. I'm not that great."
I was stunned. How can this man not understand how amazing he his. "Are you kidding me! You're perfect! You're smart, sporty, kind, and handsome." My face turned red at that last word.
Josh didn't say anything. He just looked at me, like, right into my eyes.
"Do you have a girlfriend, Tyler?" He squinted his eyes while asking this.
"Uh, that's uh, not really me..." I stuttered. Oh my goodness. "I'm, uh..."
Josh smiled at me until he realized I truly couldn't finish my sentence.
"Oh, you're gay?"
"Um, yeah..." I stayed relatively calm.
He didn't respond. He just turned his head back to the river.
"Me too." He said, keeping his eyes on the rushing water.
I could feel a smile start, but I did not let it surface. I scooted a bit closer to him, just so our shoulders were touching.
Why?
I'm not sure.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" I asked, sounding kind of stupid.
Josh scoffed. "No. If I admitted I was gay to anyone other than you I'd lose everything."
My eyebrows turned upwards, "The worlds not like that anymore!"
"My world is like that, Tyler."
I wasn't really sure what he meant, but I figured I should stop talking. After a few minutes, Josh spoke up.
"Sorry about that, Tyler. That was harsh."
"It's ok," I wanted to add something, but I ended up just repeating the same sentence. "Its ok."
Josh looked at me, with tiny tears in the corner of his eyes.
"You have really cool eyes, you know that?" Josh told me.
I put my hands in my pockets and looked away. "Thank you."
"I'm serious! They are super pretty."
I grinned and lightly elbowed him. "Shut up."
"Really! Look at me."
I obeyed, turning my head, looking him straight in the eyes. He put his hand on my cheek and softly, but quickly, connected his lips with mine. My shoulders tensed, but my lips didn't. I kissed him back. After a few seconds, we separated to breathe. His eyes were still closed.
He looked so pretty.
When he opened his eyes, I smiled at him and put my head on his shoulder. We watched the river in pure serenity for a few minutes, then we walked back to his house.
