**** Author's Note - This chapter is special, not because of the things that happen in it, but for the Lovable pup that is pictured above. He died this morning. I adopted him almost six years ago. He was the third addition to my animal family, but was no less important. I was heart broken over this lose of this "fat head." This one is for you Gus Gus.
The drive to Max's boutique was nice thanks to the warm spring weather that had settled in the air. Wilson loved this time of year, and it was part of the reason he decided to settle in this area of the country. Who wouldn't when it was always 75 and sunny. But, that is what you get from a beach town.
Max's boutique was across the street from the hotel that Ben and Kristi were staying in. Wilson hoped that he didn't get caught by them on the street. They should have settled in to there suite by now, Wilson thought. Max's store front was a brick building with big industrial windows that allowed for a big view of the inside. But the outside gave a unrealistic view of the size. Max had bought out both building on the side of his store, and renovated the inside into one big showroom. This store was big and showy like Max's personality. Wilson didn't buy his clothes from anywhere or anyone else. And, because of that Max always makes sure that he takes care of Wilson.
Walking in to the showroom the change in the light was blinding. Wilson didn't see that one of Max's female associates had approach him. Great, I look like I have an eye disorder the way I was blinding, Wilson thought. "Sorry, Miss, I couldn't see after being in the sun."
"It's okay, Sir. How can we help you today?" Her tone was chipper and upbeat exactly what you wanted to hear when you were selling high end clothing. She was also what you expected to see when you walked into a place like this. She was model thin with long blonde hair. She could have passed for one of the Olsen twins. God, that dated Wilson didn't. Wilson made a mental note to get new references.
"I was actually hoping to see Max. Is he in? I am a friend. You can let him know that Wilson is here to see him."
"Of Course, Sir. I know exactly who you are. I love your restaurant." Wilson smiled to himself as she sashayed to the back, and picked up the phone to buzz the intercom. After a couple of whispered comments, she looked up to call Wilson over. "Mr. Denny said that you can head up to the design studio. Wilson began his trek up the wrought-iron stair case that lead to the upstairs studio. This was a studio area where Max got to play mad genius with fabric. He also had a small room where he could pass out on late nights. The entire place had the décor you would expect to see in a New York loft apartment. Wilson thought it was a neat look, but felt it look too cold for his personal taste.
"Wilson," came a cry from across the room as he turned to see a fair-haired man running toward him. Wilson had to laugh, because this man did look like a blonde-haired Ben. Kathy might have something about him hiring men that looked like his friend. "I am so happy you stopped in today. you can get this workaholic to take a break from time to time." Dom motioned over to a man that could be mistaken for one of his models.
"Taking breaks don't pay the bills, or keep you driving around town in a nice car, Love" Max shouted, never breaking concentration.
"Has he been like this all morning?" Wilson asked.
"Ha...You have no clue. He even turned down a," Dom stopped and motioned with his hand up and down by his crotch.
"Because you don't say it doesn't mean I don't know what you are signaling," Max rose up from his desk. He walked over to were Dom and Wilson had taken a seat on the couch that was part of the defined sitting space for the room. "Wilson, brother. How are things down at the restaurant? I am surprised you aren't micromanaging things with the Governor's Diner being tonight."
