Allahie stood beside her mate with her arms crossed. Rathgar was sitting posed arrogantly in a chair that had been brought forth--one leg slung over the side. She and her mate were just soldiers.
Analexa was startlingly beautiful and elegant. She had golden hair and bright green eyes. Extending beyond her were feathered white wings. "Rathgar," Analexa purred, making the king tense. "How lovely of you to see me, dear."
Allahie could sense Rathgar struggling to...to not act out...scream, cry, roar, or even kill her. They truly were mates. She could sense their damaged bond. The pain tumbling off Rathgar was so easy to read, and his hands were clenched tightly. Analexa though she composed herself much better.
"And is that lovely," Analexa murmured studying Allahie, "Is she our...."
"Enough." Rathgar snapped, "Why have you let yourself be captured?"
The light queen studied Aleksandar, "He's pregnant. Oh hellfire, lord above Rath, you must be pleased."
"Enough about him."
"Enough about him?" Analexa laughed, "He's your heir in law and he's pregnant with hellfire babies."
Rathgar stiffed, "That's why you came. You knew who would be on this battle field."
Allahie had zoned out. Alek had never mentioned that he may be in line for the throne. That he had a chance at being king. She studied her mate, she could sense surprise though his face was cool and even.
"Scoping out the most important to kill. But I can't very well murder three little babies."
"You seemed to think abandoning your own was a key role, you filth!" Rathgar snapped, "Without even letting your mate know!"
Analexa took a step back at his roaring words. "You knew why I had to do it. You understand my role. If I never let her go, if I never let you go, you two would be dead."
"I'd rather be dead that knowing you rejected the mating bond. That you rejected our child. A child I didn't know you were pregnant with!"
Analexa studied the ground a moment--her only time she showed emotion--genuine pain. "I'd rather live knowing my family is well and happy but hating me, rather than living with the consequences if I had failed and you were dead. Don't get mad at me Rath, you know I don't know our child any better than you do."
"You left me," Rathgar snarled, "You were my mate."
Analexa shrugged, "You're lucky your chosen heir is mated to who he is mated too. Or I'd have killed him already--especially because he's pregnant with forbidden children."
Allahie allowed herself to take Aleksandar's hand as she sensed his heart falter. The thought of him and their children dead was to much to bear. She knew that even though he was a dark lord he had no match to the light queens power--that his magic had been dwindled since his pregnancy was progressing.
Analexa studied Allahie again and pursed her lips. "If you didn't have such a stupid sense of each heir has to be a male, Rath, things could maybe have worked out."
"Not when you were that far gone, you ruled equal to me, Ally. You searching to expand the kingdom got us into that mess..." Rathgar died off with a shake of his head.
Analexa shrugged, "Is that why he was forced to sleep with one of your other lords? Because you didn't know he had a mate? I can sense that foreign raw magic piece of shit a mile away. How uncomfortable must he be."
Aleksandar choked, at her harsh degrading words at one of his children. Allahie squeezed his hand tighter. "Rathgar, you always forced things that were not meant to work. You forced me into submission. I was a warlord, not a queen, not a high lady, not prim, not proper, and certainly not a doll. I was your mate and I broke for you. How did you not break for me backwards as you saw me failing?"
Rathgar was silent, "I broke for you a thousand times over. I let you escape, let you have the run of wars. And you betrayed me. You hid our child from me. You became queen to a foreign throne. How dare you. Get her out of my sight." The powerful king rose to his feet, and stormed out. Her words were not harsh or meant to hurt. They were just crippling because of their damaged bond.
Once Analexa was one Allahie pulled her mate into her arms. "Scummy Kennith's child or not, your baby is not a piece of shit." She kissed his nose and then his lips, "And who cares if they are illegal hellfire. They are our babies, and I won't let anything happen to you."
Alek leaned back lifting her off the ground. "I love you Allahie....I would never leave you."
"I love you too, Alek, now lets go check the artillery. Because if she's that ruthless imagine her army. I won't fall to her."
