Allahie smiled at her mate. He was sleeping as the boat rocked back and forth. They'd been at sea for three days--her sickness finally passing. The week carriage ride had been much nicer. How anyone adjusted to the rocking was beyond her. Kennith, having no issues, was on deck helping out and all three of their children napping in a cabin on the other side of the hall.
Alek's golden eyes blinked open and he grunted only to grab her hand and place it on his stomach. The baby was kicking. It was incredibly week but she could still feel it. Allahie smiled widely. For only a week and some passing since they prepared to head out his stomach had almost doubled.
While her mate wasn't terribly rounded it was noticeable now. Before if he shifted his shoulders back or wore proper clothing it wasn't noticeable. Now no matter what he did his belly was showing. She could sense his anger at everyone for that reason. Everyone could only seem to stare at it. Citizens this far out may not have heard the word he was knocked up, or they believed it to be a silly rumor.
"Darling, I'm only a little worried...." he murmured. She reached out and placed a hand on the side of his face.
"Why hon?"
"She's growing so damn fast. And what if something goes wrong."
"Lousen is here with us."
He nodded, "What if something else goes wrong though. And I get captured or we can't leave in time. What if I have to have the baby elsewhere?"
"Honey, oh darling," Allahie cooed. "The baby has plenty of time to cook. Plenty."
His eyes met hers. They were sparked with a mixture of emotions. "Darling, baby is growing pretty fast. Besides Lousen said we may need to get her out early. She's going to be bigger than Lucrein the way it is...and I don't know about you but if I can avoid birthing a baby that big, then I want to take that option."
"We will cross that bridge when we get there." She kissed his nose and snuggled up beside him on the small bed. "What do you think they will be like?"
He eased back slightly, "I heard Lincoln can be a real prick, his mate a warrior that once trained from with our ranks before he left on his quest to find Lincoln. Kaliment is a man who I heard can be too kind. That part of his issues were because people walked over him. I know for a fact his grandfather was in our ranks--a half bred bastard, but disciplined and worked is way up. Once served Rath. It's how Kaliment is demi-fae but looking human with no magic. His wife is a wonderful woman, her name is Isa and his advisor, Simon is cold but soft."
"Didn't the both of them have their own children?"
"Kaliment did a damn well job hiding the fact he had his children...popped out five of them I believe...and Lincoln. Well he gives zero fucks about the fact he had twins. The last person to test him probably had a cross bow arrow to the face."
"Sounds like you and Lincoln will either get along perfectly or hate each other."
"I already get the feel he will be too much arrogance and sass. Kaliment I know I will get along with. While soft he can be rather fierce. He's trained in nearly every weapon for how young he is. He fought his wars pregnant and can think with a very clear head. I plan to see just what he can do."
"Hon, honestly we have to discuss about the fact all three of you can bare children. And heirs of allied thrones are needed."
He gave her a savage grin, "Allahie if it happens it happens, even if I am loyal to only you. It would be meaningless. You know it is what is best for our future. Besides. You are my mate, you would not dare have on of their children...I would...."
She pinched his nose. "And you are already knocked up with a beast of a baby." She knew what he was trying to say. She didn't like the thought but she knew if it could save a lot of lives and secure their future....then mixed children were not the end of the world.
"My plan is to stay away neutral on the idea and I need you too as well. I'm not trying to cause an issue."
Allahie sighed through her nose and nodded. She snuggled up further against her mate and rubbed his stomach. "Alright darling."
He kissed her forehead, "It will all be okay my love. I promise. I am always here."
She drifted to sleep snuggled against him. The journey would be just a few more days, and then they would be greeting kings.
