Homework (one shot)

Y/N's Person POV

Jughead and I have been best friends since grade one. I've had a little crush on him ever since the first year of middle school, but I've never let it get the best of me. We're both in our Freshmen year of high school, and me being the "Straight A" student since grade school, I've always been helping out Jughead with homework and tests when he couldn't really get the hang of a certain topic.

It was a Thursday night, about an hour after I got home from school. I was already done with my homework, so I didn't have anything else to do for the rest of the night. I decide to go on my phone and browse through social media. As I was just scrolling through my Facebook feed, a text from Jughead came in.

Jug 👑😝: Heyyy

Y/N: Hey... let me guess, need help with homework?

Jug 👑😝:  How did you know?! 

Y/N: Jug, you ask me to help you with your homework almost every night 😑 

Jug 👑😝: Hahaha! Yeah, I know. Sooo... Can I come over?

Y/N: Sure. What subject?

Jug 👑😝: Chemistry 😤 I have to memorize the periodic table

Y/N: You still don't memorize it? 😂😂

Jug 👑😝:  Don't judge me! Anyways, I'll be there in ten minutes.

Y/N: Hahaha. Okay. Be safe!

I lie down on my bed, still on my phone while I wait for Jughead. Around ten minutes later, I here a knock on the door. It was my Mom.

"Sweetie, Jughead is here. Do I let him in?"

"Yeah. Thanks, Mom."

She nods and lets Jughead in my room. Jughead smiles and says,

"Hey Y/N."

"Hey Jug. Ready to start memorizing?"

"I hope I am," Jughead says while dropping his backpack on the floor. 

"Sit down," I said while patting the space on my bed. Jughead walks over and sits down beside you. "Okay, so... do you know the first ten elements?"

"I think I do," Jughead said while scratching the back of his head looking unsure.

"Tell me the first element."

"Uh... Hydrogen?"

"Correct!"

"What? Really?"

"Yeah! Okay, tell me the next nine elements."

"Uh, okay. Next is... Fluorine?"

"Nope. Try again."

"Oh. Uh... Helium?" 

"Right! And the next one?"

"...Neon?"

"Nope."

"Oxygen? Nitrogen? Carbon?"

"No, no and no," I said while giggling.

"Could you tell me the first ten?"

"Fine, but you better listen okay?" 

"Okay."

"Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium..."

Jughead's POV

Gosh, Y/N looks so cute when she's acting all smart. I actually memorized the periodic table already. I just wanted a reason to go to Y/N's house. I've liked, no, loved Y/N for a while now. She's always been there for me when I needed someone. She always tried to help with everything. I've been wanting to tell her about my feeling, but, I didn't want to ruin our friendship if she didn't feel the same way. I never want to lose her, never. I would take a bullet for her if it meant that she would be safe. I would do anything  for her. I start to space out, staring into Y/N's y/e/c eyes and her beautiful y/h/c hair. She was just... perfect. I couldn't handle it anymore. I had to do... something.

Y/N's POV

"...Boron, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxy-" I was cut off by Jughead's soft lips crashing onto mine. My eyes widen at the sudden kiss. I was frozen, I had no idea what to do. I was confused. Jughead could sense that I felt uncomfortable. He pulled away and I said,

"-gen."

I earned a chuckle from him. His smile turned into a frown shortly after.

"I'm sorry, that was really weir-"

I cut him off with another kiss. It was short yet passionate. It felt wonderful, like two puzzle pieces that perfectly fit. I pull away and I see Jughead's cheeks tinted red. I could see how startled he was by your sudden gesture.

"Y/N, I have something to confess," He said sounding a bit embarrassed.

"Yes?"

"I actually do memorize the periodic table. I have for a long time now." He rubbed the back of his neck.

"What? Then, why did you say you needed my help?" I asked, confused.

"To be honest? All those times I said I needed your help with homework, they were all just an excuse for me to see you." His cheeks were still tinted red.

"Well, why didn't you just say so? Juggie, we've been best friends for as long as I can remember. You can come over anytime you want!" I said in a reassuring tone. "But... about that kiss?"

"I've been wanting to do that for a long time now," he said. "I'm sorry. I hope it didn't ruin our friendship. Are we still best friends?" I could see how worried he looked. I just gave him a gentle smile and said,

"No." 

His worried expression immediately turned into a devastated one. But, he would never what I was about to do next. I sat closer to him and cupped his cheek with one of my hands. I stared into his deep, green eyes and I crashed my lips onto his. We both melted into the kiss and as time flew by, we pulled away to catch our breath. He smiled a smile I've never seen on his face before. It was a different smile. A smile I would love to see on his face all the time. I moved in closer and whispered into his ear,


"We aren't best friends anymore. We're more than that."
