~Chapter Eight~
Izaya's POV
"You are insane! Stop playing with fire!" I snapped.
Only two hours had passed since Tuno lit Namie's chess piece on fire. Now she was burning her hand. She didn't even seem to be bothered by it. I snatched the lighter away from her and tossed it to the side.
"But you won't let me burn anything else!" She whined.
"That doesn't mean you can burn yourself!"
She flinched when I yelled, and I knew I had scared her. I sighed and pulled her closer.
"If you didn't do such childish things, I wouldn't have to yell at you." I murmured.
"You told me when we met that you loved my childish behavior."
"I know what I said."
She stuck her tongue out at me, and I laughed. I played with her hair before I went to my desk.
"Be a good girl while I do some work." I said.
She plopped down on the couch and played with my chess board. I had replaced it with a spare, and I always had pieces. She put a finger to her lower lip and moved one piece with her other hand.
I watched as she moved several pieces around. I got to my feet and walked over to the couch, my curiosity getting the best of me.
"Why are they all surrounding you?" I asked.
"This one here," She pointed to a knight. "is the higher up that tells me what to do. All of these," She motioned to the pawns. "are his henchmen. They want to kill me because I have hung around you so much."
"Why would they want to kill you just for being with me?"
"They have a rule where the mice can't be in a relationship with the info brokers used by other 'knights'. I went against that rule." She shrugged.
