End Summary

Jack was gonna turn out to be a jerk, and physically abuse Eliza. 

Dan didn't know.

Isabel urged Jack on (she abused her son physically, outside the watchful eye of Dan. She manipulated Dan, and he didn't realize it).

The two were at a party, and Jack got angry because Eliza was talking to her friend, a friend he told her not to talk to. On the way home, they got in a car crash, and the ER doctor noticed Eliza's scars and bruises from Jack's abuse.

This tears another rift in Dan and Phil's somewhat repairing relationship. They get angry at each other. Phil tries to help Eliza get over the emotional repercussions of Jack's abuse whilst Dan questions where he went wrong as a father.

Dan eventually realizes that Isabel is the real poison. He files for divorce, but she manages to convince the judge and lawyers that she is the better parent to have custody of Jack. 

Dan and Phil make up, and Phil realizes that nothing is keeping him in America. He also desperately wants to reunite with his old friends, and the three move back to England.

Phil and Eliza have a flat right next to Dan's.
