Hidan opened his mouth into a wide grin and exclaimed, "this is (y/n)! She's a jashinist and she wanted to join our organization!" He obviously didn't understand how serious the situation was; the smile on his face was a huge contrast to the scowl the orange haired man's face. You inhaled sharply when he turned his face to you, his purple eyes piercing you. "Who are you? Who are you working for?" he questioned furiously. You opened your mouth to speak but nothing came out. Hidan smiled at you and then back at his boss, waiting for you to say something. You let out a tiny squeak of a voice, saying, "My name is (y/n)...I'm not a spy, I'm Hidan's student. I've come to request to join your organization."
The man's face went from angry to a twisted, confused expression. "Why? So you can steal the Akatsuki's information? We have no use for you here. All of our membership positions are filled." When the man's shoulders relaxed some, you felt a little more brave. "I have other skills to offer. I'm not well known and I have skills as a ninja. Hidan can vouch for me," you said, your voice stronger this time. Hidan nodded in agreement. "She's a follower of Jashin, and she's doing pretty damn well too! She's immortal!" He patted your shoulder and pushed you gently forward to his boss, who stared down intently at you. The blue haired woman stepped forward and gave you a neutral expression. "Pain...what about that undercover assignment we had been planning...?" She asked, a hint of hope in her voice. "We've been looking for someone who could fill that role for a while, so many of our other members are out collecting information on Jinchuriki." The man with the piercings, whose name you realized was 'Pain', sighed heavily, "I still don't think any of you realize how dangerous letting her join could be. Do you know the purpose of our organization?"
You thought hard, trying to remember exactly what it was that Hidan told you. He had said everyone's goals were different but there was a main goal...but in the moment you didn't remember. "No..." you started, "but that's what I came here to find out." Your ignorance of the organization seemed to ease him, as a spy would know at least something about to organization to begin with. He turned his back to you and began walking slowly away. While doing so, he explained the true purpose of the Akatsuki to you. "We want to bring true peace to the world. Imagine a world with only winners, and no losers. No death, no pain, no suffering, only dreams..."
He continued on, explaining in great detail their plans. Kakazu groaned and rolled his eyes; you could tell he really wasn't interested in hearing this explanation again. Hidan was still smiling, and ruffled your hair a bit. "Damn, you're good! I didn't think he would be so easily swayed," he chuckled quietly. You felt a rush of excitement, and what the blue haired woman said...an undercover assignment? You'd be good at that, it's not like anyone outside of your tiny village had ever seen your face. You weren't well known and could keep a good cover. Your thoughts were interrupted with Pain turned to you and said, "Do you align with our organization's goals?" without thinking about it, you said, "Yes." Really, you didn't know how much you cared about true peace, but you just wanted to be in on it all. The excitement! And getting to continue your partnership with Hidan...that was the best part.
The blue haired woman smiled a little. "Does this mean she can take the undercover assignment?" She asked Pain. "Konan...do you think it is a smart idea? You know women better than I am. Is she lying?" Pain questioned. The woman, as you could see was named 'Konan' took a step close to you and ran her hand along you cheek without warning. Her orange eyes showed no signs of bad intent and you could tell she was analyzing you just by looking at you. Her presence eased you and Hidan watched intently to make sure she didn't harm you. "I don't believe that she's lying. She's calm, and if Hidan says she is a convert...she must be strong and have some use. The Akatsuki could always use an additional immortal employee for backup and side work." She backed up to Pain's side. You nodded gently and looked back at the two of them. Konan was still smiling and Pain signed again. "If it is your wish, you may join the Akatsuki."
"Aw hell yes!!" Hidan shouted, jumping up and down in place like a school girl! Kakazu turned away and crossed his arms. You simply didn't know what to do so you just stood there, completely relieved that you were accepted, let alone alive. "Hidan, Kakazu, (y/n)," Pain addressed the three of you, "you will now be a 3 man squad. (y/n)'s job will be to gather information while you two lay low behind her, waiting to potentially attack. And Hidan...if she turns out to be a spy, I'll end both of you." Hidan nodded, the grin on his face still wide. Kakazu groaned. "Great, now I have to deal with two of you religious freaks..." He wasn't so happy, but Hidan was thrilled. There weren't many Jashinists out there, as he had told you, let alone women of the faith. Pain began walking away and Konan faced the three of you. "Your assignment is to go to the land of fire and gather information on the Jinchuriki who lives there, the 9 tails. You must return in a few days, because we will begin the sealing of the 1 tail here. Go, complete your assignment and don't come back empty handed." She about-faced and followed Pain away, deeper into the cave.
The three of you were left, and Kakazu had begun walking back up the passageway out of the cave. Hidan laughed maniacally and yelped, "Well that was easy, huh?!" He gave you a rather firm pat on the back and he started up the stairs behind Kakazu. "Let's go, (y/n), I've been dying to make a sacrifice today!!" He shouted down to you. For a moment you stood there, staring off into the cave. You weren't quite sure what to think; once again you were thrown into something much bigger than anything you would have imagined a few weeks ago, but you were ready to start your journey.
