Your shoulder hurt like hell. You had a huge blade shoved deep in it, and yeah, it hurt like hell. The man who had stabbed it there was looking at you wide eyed when you didn't succumb to the pain and keel over. While he was distracted, you gave him a firm punch to the jaw and he flew back. Several feet away from you, Hidan and Kakazu were also dealing some more of the men; bandits. They knew you were members of the Akatsuki based on your cloaks and attacked you because there were rumors that there was a great deal of money in the hands of the organization. While they were rather weak, there were many of them, and you were getting annoyed. The three of you took down one after another. It had already been an incredibly long day and this wasn't making it any better. Between the morning you had spent walking miles listening to Hidan and Kakazu argue nonstop and this, you were exhausted. You picked off the bandits one by one until none were left standing. Hidan whined as he pulled a kunai that was dug deep into his stomach out. "Absolutely worthless, no one good enough to have been sacrificed here. Jashin's going to be fucking pissed at me..." he groaned. Kakazu examined one of the dead bodies and said, "forget about your silly ritual...this one here happens to have quite the bounty on his head. The notorious bandit king of the land of fire...I could make some good money off of him..." Kakazu hurled the body over his shoulder and continued walking, leaving all those he had slaughtered behind. Hidan spat in disgust and followed behind Kakazu with you by his side. "Such worldly desires...money is all you care about, you prick," he hissed in Kakazu's direction, who said nothing. "Worldly desires?" You questioned, peering at Hidan. "What exactly is considered a 'worldly desire' in the eyes of Jashin?"
Hidan put his hands behind is head and sighed, "Eh well...money of course, drugs and alcohol too, really, but used in moderation are acceptable. Sex and relationships are also worldly and strongly looked down upon, now that I think about it..." he trailed off in thought, a slightly concerned look on his face. "Relationships? Like what...?" you asked. Hidan shrugged and gave you a bit of a defeated look. "See...(y/n), I've been wanting to tell you this for the past few days now and I really didn't know how to. I had to repent for what I did with you that night after your ritual. My kinship with you as a follower of Jashin is fine, because we are united toward a common goal of destruction. But well...I really can't have anymore of a relationship with you other than that and having you as my student. My night with you was great! Really, it was! It just...it can't happen again and neither of us can be tempted anymore by such blasphemous things."
Blasphemous? The word was so harsh and it kinda hurt to be put down by Hidan like that. His faith was incredibly important to him, far more so than a silly girl who was simply a new convert. But you were letting the little girl in you have too much control...Hidan was right, you should abstain from those worldly pleasures he mentioned. It was stupid of you to think of having a serious relationship with Hidan, someone you still barely knew and was now your professional mentor and teacher. As the three of you headed closer to your destination, you drowned out the sound of Hidan whining and Kakuzu trying to shut him up. You thought about making your own first sacrifice and how it would feel. You knew it was gonna hurt...but...Hidan seemed to like it so much. Would you like it that much? Who knew, really. Only time would tell.
The three of you came up on a small village as the sun was setting. Your stomach growled loudly when you smelled some of the food that was wafting out of the restaurants. Hidan stopped to look at a big sign outside of a food stand and pointed. "They have prime ribs, my favorite! Can we pleeeeaaase stop to eat something, I'm fucking starving!" He exclaimed. Kakazu stopped and turned, eyeing the food stand up and down. "That's expensive, what a waste of money...I suppose we should stop and regain our strength, though. We have more to walk tomorrow," he said begrudgingly. "AHAHAA, THANK JASHIN!!!" Shouted Hidan, rushing toward the smell of his favorite food. You and Kakazu trailed behind, pulling back the curtains of the food stand and taking a seat at the booth. You sat between the two of them (Jashin knows what kind of arguments the two of them would get into if you didn't) and observed the food available.
The three of you ordered and stuffed your faces; you hadn't eaten since last night. Kakazu made sure to hide his face when he removed the lower half of his mask and Hidan wasted no time going to business on the prime ribs he had ordered. The food was yummy and it filled you up. "Where is the best place to stay overnight in this town?" You asked the cook who was behind the corner. He pointed across the street to a small inn that appeared homely enough. The three of you finished your food and paid before you headed across the street to the inn. Kakazu paid to secure a room for the three of you and you all headed to the room. It was small with some sleeping mats rolled up in a closet. Kakazu took one and placed it in the corner of the room, far away from you and Hidan. Hidan unrolled his and placed it a few feet from yours. He stripped off his cloak and sat cross legged on the mat. "Ahhh, what a long fucking day..." he sighed, cracking his neck. You looked him up and down, trying not to be too obvious about it. He reached into his cloak that was laying on the floor next to him to grab something out of it and said, "hey, before I start my prayers, I had something I wanted to give you. "
He pulled out a small pendant just like the one he had, the symbol of Jashinism glittering in the moonlight that seeped through the paper mat walls of the room. "Here, take it," he said, and tossed it to you. You caught it in your hands; it felt heavier than you expected it to be and it was cool against the skin of your palms. "Th...thank you, Hidan," you whispered, smiling just a bit before you put it around your neck. "This means a lot to me." "Ah, it's no big deal, everyone needs one anyway," he sighed and shrugged. He took the pendant that was around his neck and brought it took his lips to begin praying. You wanted to do the same, but you felt kinda silly...you didn't really know what to say, as you had never done anything like this before. It was worth a shot. "Lord Jashin, hear me..." you began, just as Hidan had done in the past, and you let all your thoughts flow freely, stopping every once in a while to glace at Hidan and smile some. Even if you couldn't express your true feelings for him, being with him like this was special. Deep down...you thought...maybe things could go your way in the future.
