Ok so I decided to write past and present chapters, but I will let it be known at the beginning of the update, when it took/takes place. I'll be switching back and forth for the next few updates. Hope you guys enjoy it!
Sang chased two laughing toddlers around the living room. One was crawling and the other one was attempting to run. She could not help but laugh along with them.
My silly boys. My happy, silly boys.
"Ok, ok. I give," she said as she sat on the floor. They both came over to her and Sammy crawled into her lap while Jacob sat and leaned against her.
"What should we do for your birthdays? Should we do them together or separately?"
Their birthdays were 4 days apart and with them being so close together, she did not know if she should do it all at once or separately. After thinking it through, she decided to do them separately.
Each one should have a special day set aside, just for them, and with this being Sammy's first birthday, it is extra special for him.
With her mind made up, she started making plans. Even though it would just be the three of them, she wanted to make the day as special as she could for both of them.
"Ok, what kind of cake would you like, Jacob? Should we do a Spongebob cake?"
It was his favorite show to watch.
"Ya, 'pongebob 'ake," he replied excitedly as he clapped his hands together. "I wanna 'pongebob 'ake!"
She laughed and then looked down at Sammy, who was looking up at her with tired eyes.
"Is someone ready for their nap," she asked him.
"No nap, no nap," Jacob said, though he yawned at the end of it.
"Ok, how about we take a nap and then afterwards we can talk more about birthday cakes."
"Ok, momma," Jacob replied as he stood up on shaking legs.
As she stood up carefully, she grabbed Jacob's little hand and led the way to the kids bedroom. She put a now sleeping Sammy into his crib and covered him lightly with a blanket. She went over to Jacob's toddler bed and tucked him in. He was asleep before she made it out the door.
While the kids were taking their nap, she decided that now would be a good time to get caught up on the chores. She started a load of laundry, did up the dishes, picked up the living room, and swept the floors in the kitchen and bathroom. She would vacuum the rest of the house after the boys woke up.
She was just putting in another load of clothes into the washer when she heard the faint sound of knocking at the front door. She frowned as she hurried to the door, wondering who it would be. She did not have many visitors.
As she looked out the curtain, she groaned as she saw Marie standing there.
What now?
It had been almost a year since Marie had brought Sammy to her. She did not panic this time, knowing that Marie was not there to take the kids from her, although she could not think of a reason why she would be here, unless she needed help. She slowly opened the door and stepped out onto the porch, shutting the door behind her to keep the cool May morning air out.
"Marie, what brings you here?"
Sang looked Marie over, noticing her pale, pasty white face and thin, unwashed hair. She was wearing a big, baggy coat, that seemed to have more holes than material, so she had no idea if Marie had gained or lost more weight. By the look of her face, she would have so say Marie had lost more weight.
