Let's just say Sadie was not happy when Carter wasn't there to greet her when she got back. Walt was able to convince Sadie for a while that Carter would return, but soon Sadie was pacing angrily.
"WHERE COULD HE POSSIBLY HAVE GONE?"
Walt slowly inched a safe distance away from Sadie–which is to say about twenty feet. Sadie, oblivious to her boyfriend's movement, continued screaming.
"WHERE IS HE? WHY ISN'T HE HERE?"
Movement in her peripheral vision caught Sadie's attention and she whipped her head around to face her brother. Immediately, Sadie shut up and glared a poisonous death glare at Carter. When Carter saw the look in his sister's eyes, he stopped, dead in his tracks.
After a minute of dead silence, Sadie spoke in a deadly calm and quiet voice, "It has been an hour and a half. Would you like to explain to me me why you weren't here like you said you would be?"
Nobody spoke and the silence pierced through the siblings as they stood there, staring at each other. When Carter felt that the silent threats his sister was sending him, would be the death of him, he started slowly inching backwards, farther and farther away from Sadie.
Carter didn't anticipate what happened next, Sadie ran up to her brother and tackled him. They were a tangled mess of arms and legs and Sadie had started screaming at Carter.
"YOU SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME, YOU BITCH!"
Carter curled up into a ball as his sister continued screaming at him. Walt wisely did not interfere, as he did not have a death wish.
"WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO THINK? WHAT IF YOU HAD BEEN EATEN BY A GIANT ALBINO CROCODILE?"
Carter worked up enough guts to squeak out a question to his sister, "You mean Philip?"
"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!"
"Then what is?"
Sadie did something else unexpected, she walked up to Carter and hugged him. She embraced him in a death grip. Carter heard a small sob escape her lips and hugged her back. When Walt noticed his girlfriend had gone quiet, he approached her with caution. But as soon as he saw she was hugging Carter, Walt ran over to console Sadie. Walt joined in the big as Sadie cried into her brother's shoulder. She cried and she cried until she had no tears left.
Walt and Carter helped Sadie stand up and she, yet again, did something unexpected. Sadie punched Carter in the arm.
"You're a jerk."
"I know," Carter replied. "But just let me explain myself. You know those turtle things we were fighting last night? Yeah, well, it turns out one of them was injured and close to death. So I agreed to help Percy take him back to a camp healer. Then they introduced themselves and we thought it'd be ride if we didn't do the same."
"And it took you and hour and a half to introduce yourselves?"
"Yes ... well no ... sorta? The turtle ninjas also told us their history. So Percy and I sorta kinda told them ours too."
"Okay so you figured socializing would be a good excuse for not being where you were supposed to be? Am I supposed to forgive you for this?" She was getting visibly angrier with each word she spoke. "You're so immature. I c–"
"Immature? You're the one who just tackled me."
Sadie rolled her eyes, "Whatever. I can't even. I just can't believe you, right now."
"Sadie, Raph was dying. Did you expect us to just leave him to die?"
"Fine. I don't care, let's just get going."
"Fine."
