Late Night

My two brothers take me to my old bedroom.

"It's the same way as you left it," Chika says, opening the door to my bedroom.

I enter the room and am immediately disgusted, so girly. Pink is on just about everything along with many stuffed animals. Of course, I don't mind the stuffed animals...

"We kept the place clean and dusted," Mitsu says.

"We would come in here a lot," Chika sighs. "For... all sorts of different reasons."

"I'll have to do some redecorating," I admit, causing the boys to chuckle somewhat. "Well, I'm going to take a shower since it's been some time since I've had a nice one."

"Dinner will be ready soon," Mitsu says. "We'll leave you, so you can work on your room if you like."

The two gently leave, giving me glances as they go.

I sigh once the door is closed and look around the room. "Everything that I see was once familiar but is now... unrecognizable..." I take a few moments to myself before heading into the bathroom.

After taking a shower, I walk over to the full length mirror, not seeing myself but someone different. All the scars along my torso and back all have a different story, most complicated and others not.

Flashback (3 years ago)

We were getting debriefed on what the goal of the mission was that we were going on.

"Akisuko and Mitsukuni will be the first line of defense," father says. "You two need to barge through and get straight to the task at hand. You need to release the prisoners then the rest of the troops can help them to safety. After you release them you need to go retrieve what we talked about. You two will be leading the group."

"Hai, father," Mitsu and I nod.

We get our gear together and head out to lead our group of soldiers. Strapped on our backs are our twin bunnies, Usa and Kou. Usa is Mitsu's and Kou is mine.

"The two of us are going to go ahead, the rest of you wait until we give you the signal," I command.

From the ninjas that I can see, all nod their heads, confirming they understand. We all load up in a few cars, Mitsu and I getting on a pair of motorcycles, even if we are too young to drive. We lead the troops out, holding a hand up once we get in enemy territory. We make a motion, saying that we are carrying out what we talked about and are heading in first. My brother and I get off the cycles and climb into the trees to jump across. After quickly making it to the hideout of the enemies, the two of us give a nod, whistling to the 'birds' to tell the others to close in. A few explosions ring off behind us after a couple minutes pass by, alerting the enemy.

"They're here!" a man shouts.

Mitsu and I give each other a concerned glance to each other before turning back to see what the explosion was. The scene before us horrifies us to the core. About 10 of our troops have exploded into pieces and 20 are severely injured.

"What happened?!" Mitsu shouts.

"Landmine!" a ninja calls out.

"Head into the trees!" I command.

"What about the injured?!"

"Reinforcements are on the way!" Mitsu answers. "They will help the injured. We need to go now because this is our last chance to help the captured! Anyone who is able to fight, into the trees!"

About 70 members climb up the trees and on the way back to the enemy it is. We jump down from the trees, swords and guns out and ready to attack.
