Evan picked up Peggy at her apartment, and now they were riding along a busy highway to an unknown destination. She'd done her makeup tonight, and pulled her red hair up into a curly pony tail. He didn't know what perfume she was wearing, but it smelled fantastic on her. He had dressed up, too, with a smart red blazer, no tie. He had left a couple buttons undone, exposing just a peek of his muscular chest. They rode along with the radio quietly playing in the background. Peggy decided to break the silence.
"So, where are you taking me?"
"I believe I promised you some mind-blowing frozen yogurt." he replied playfully.
"You did." She responded in kind.
"But, first, the college is putting on a production of 'A Streetcar Named Desire' tonight."
"Really?" she asked, with a hint of elation in her voice.
"Yep. I mean, it's not Broadway, but they do a good job." He glanced over at her with a smile. He was glad to see she was agreeable to the idea.
"I never would have guessed that you like theater."
"I had a few ambitions before my "issues" got in the way." She raised an eyebrow. She wondered to herself what issues he meant. She would get him to explain later. For now, she had another pressing question to ask him.
"What were those ambitions?" He laughed. She liked the sound. It was warm, loud, and genuine.
"One of them was to get over my stage fright." He laughed again.
"And, did you succeed?" She asked demurely.
"Nope. It was an epic failure." He looked at her with pink cheeks, but his eyes were still smiling. She returned his smile. Then, she relaxed in her seat, and enjoyed the music.
During the show, Evan stole little glances at Peggy. It was cute how she was totally absorbed in the play. He studied her profile, her lips, her hair. He was in awe of her beauty. He wasn't sure why a woman like her would date a guy like him, but he was glad. He wanted to know more about her. She turned around, and caught him staring at her. She smiled, and they both blushed. She turned back to the show. Evan took a deep breath, then reached his hand out to hers. Their fingers interlocked. Peggy didn't turn around, but he could see the delight on her face, even from the side. He was floating on air. They watched the rest of the play like that.
After the show, Evan took Peggy to Polar Delights frozen yogurt shop. He had her grab a table while he got their yogurt. Anything other than chocolate were her instructions. He knew just what to get her. He returned a few minutes later, placing a small cup of orange yogurt with a purple plastic spoon in front of her. He sat down with a cup of pink yogurt, and turned to watch her expectantly. She looked a little embarrassed, but she pick up her spoon, scooped some out, and placed it in her mouth. She closed her eyes, and her body drooped in pleasure. She let out a loud 'Mmmm' and put another scoop in her mouth.
"So, what's the verdict?" He asked, but he already knew.
"Oh my word. This is amazing!" she gushed. Evan laughed, nodding his head.
"Mm-hm. Didn't I tell you?" He took a bite of his own.
"I will never doubt you again." She said, as she shoveled another spoonful in her mouth. "What flavor is this?"
"It's mango. I got strawberry." He barely had the words out before she stole a scoop of his. He chuckled, glad to see she was enjoying herself.
"How did you find out about this place?" she asked, finally getting herself under control.
