Mabel woke up in the middle of the night, sweating. She had a horrible, horrible dream. Something happened to Will. She knew it was probably her imagination running wild, but the dread sat in the pit of her stomach. She couldn't go back to sleep.
"Dipper?" She whispered into the darkness, hoping her brother was awake.
Silence.
"Dipper?" She called again.
She heard him stir. She sat up now, peering into the darkness, trying to see him. He looked like he was sitting up.
"Mab-Mabel, did you, uh, call me?" He called out, clearly still tired. "Yes, yes, I'm awake," she replied. "Why?" Her brother asked, glancing at his watch, which he could barely see in the dark, "It's three am." "I had a nightmare," she mumbled, realizing how stupid it sounded out loud. "And?" Dipper asked, slightly concerned for his sister. "Will, he's- he's in trouble," Mabel sobbed.
Dipper reached towards the lamp on their nightstand. As soon as he turned it on, he saw his sister in a ball, sobbing into her knees. He got up from his bed, hurrying to his sister's side.
"Mabel, it was just a nightmare," he comforted, trying to calm the crying girl down. "It felt so real," she sniffled, "Ever since the stuff with Bill, I don't know what's real and what's not. Dreams and reality are bleeding together." "It's okay, Mabel. I'm sure Will is fine," Dipper cooed.
Mabel sniffled, wiping her nose. She nodded, feeling a little better about her nightmare. Dipper smiled.
"Go back to sleep now. We have to be up early for school." "Can you stay with me, Dipper? Please?"
The boy nodded and laid next to his sister. She had no more nightmares for the rest of the night.
