All the excited females that had found their mates eagerly stepped in line, each more than ready to receive their ring. The parents of the young girls, every single pack member, every mate watched them happily... all except the Alpha, who was very preoccupied looking for his own daughter, who was nowhere to be seen.
Alpha sir, we've searched the entire grounds but we don't know where else she could be, informed one of the patrols and the Alpha held back the urge to scream and break everything in sight. Of all days his daughter could be missing, she just had to choose this particular day.
His mate and sons noticed his distress and quickly caught on to the situation. His mate just sighed and shook her head, not in disappointment of course but in amusement knowing very well that this was the type of stunt their daughter would pull. The sons tried to contain their laughter knowing that they would be punished by their not-so-happy-father if they dared let out a noise.
Meanwhile in a place deep in the woods the "missing" daughter of the Alpha was sleeping soundly and without a care in the world.

I sat up and stretched my arms above my head to shake the numb feeling away from my bones.

I let what she said sink in for about two seconds and then I felt the sudden urge to punch myself in the face. You fucken asshole, why the hell didn't you remind me?!
